"I think he is more valid as a church burner than as a musician." The only truly serious statement ever made about Burzum. Well done, Cornell.

Just yesterday, while scrolling through my music collection, I stumbled upon the DT albums and thought to myself, "Damn, I can't be that harsh on them; after all, there must be something from their old stuff that I'll kinda like, right?" So, I listened to a few tracks here and there, and I couldn't get through more than half, except in the following three cases: Erotomania, Space Dye Vest, and Hell's Kitchen. Erotomania, because I think it's the only track where their frenetic cut-and-paste style actually works and is at least fun (but we're talking about fun, not exactly about some masterpiece); Space Dye Vest because it manages to be a bit intense (funny enough, it's by Moore, not them), but it suffers from Labrie's presence, who, with his overripe voice, can turn any atmospheric piece into a painful heel-walking experience; and Hell's Kitchen because, besides having a nice sound, it might be the first non-ballad track that, after five albums since their debut, manages to follow a syntactic evolution with at least some coherence, instead of throwing everything into chaos with the usual annoying stuttering rhythms designed in a boardroom. As for the rest, zero. P.S. To silence any accusations of objectivity or lack thereof, a simple look at the Italian Wikipedia page on Dream Theater, and especially the ensuing discussion among various users, is quite revealing and truly objective. Does any other band have all this?

I only said it to point out that the USA is 5000 years ahead of us when it comes to "popular" tastes if a group like this is at the top of the charts. I didn’t mean to stir up any controversy. DMB is one of my all-time favorite bands.

Well, if a group sells far and wide, is renowned and widely recognized all over the world, and fills stadiums, then it seems clear to me that the "dominant thought" is that of the fans who appreciate them, not that of the people who criticize them. It's a very simple concept :)

"Today the dominant thought imposes the demolition of certain figures regardless, and the DTs do not enjoy the favor of some authoritative critics who dominate collective thought." It's interesting to note how the majority nowadays has the audacity to adopt victimistic attitudes typical of the minority. It's like when some well-known political figure one day claims to be loved by 99% of Italians and the next day complains that everyone is attacking him. Strange, don’t you think? I remember that at the last DT concert in Rome, the Palalottomatica, which is pretty big, was packed, just as it was for all the Italian and European dates. Hmm, I would ask myself two questions before being sure of what the "dominant thought" really is.

Sure, expect an avalanche of totally random data. And this is data in full mental faculties.

"enough with always repeating the same distorted notes." Which notes? Certain groups, even if they changed all the notes of their songs randomly, would achieve exactly the same sound result.
