Baustelle I Mistici Dell'Occidente
Voto:
@Teenagelobotomy: I'm sorry, but as far as I know, Bianconi himself stated that he doesn't want to bring the Baustelle to Sanremo as a band, but rather the lyrics he wrote for others. In fact, he wrote a surprisingly beautiful song for Grandi. Anyway, getting back on topic, I already know I'm a whitefly, but I think it's too easy to call Bianconi's group brainless. They are definitely not without flaws (I hope they have found a better sound technician, since many told me that they had issues during live performances), but they are not the crap that some believe (snobbery from those who label them as snobbish? Not always, but sometimes it is): I am convinced that they have moved from the Gainsbourgian atmospheres of their beginnings to a singer-songwriter style that is, in some ways, slightly reminiscent of a Battiato from the times of "La Voce Del Padrone" or even Faber. "I Mistici Dell'Occidente" isn't a 5-star album, but it is certainly a respectable work, one of the best things released this year so far. There is a bit of their previous albums, it's true, but the substance is still there. Even if tracks like "L'Indaco" or "San Francesco" I don't think they've ever performed...but above all, I prefer "Il Sottoscritto," "L'Ultima Notte Felice Del Mondo" (with Bastreghi confirming her status as one of the most noteworthy Italian voices to emerge over the past decade), and the melancholic - and somewhat quirky - "Le Rane"...
Peter Jackson Meet the Feebles
Voto:
The first Jackson is the one I prefer, for his skill in blending splatter and comedy. Unfortunately, I got to know this one last (thanks to dear Psycho, who I think will pass by here...), but that doesn't detract from the fact that he is a pure concentration of genius, with a never too hidden desire to mock human vices (embodied by the various characters of the theater company), even though I still prefer "Splatters." It's a shame it was never released in Italy... I don't know if that can be considered a good or bad thing (dubbing issue inside?).
Amedeo Gianfrotta Grazie Padre Pio

What is this stuff? XD I watched it for half a minute and couldn't tell whether to give it a 1 or a 5... but I chose 1 :D
Paul Verhoeven Robocop
Voto:
Who knows how many years have passed since the last time I saw him, but I liked him a lot. On the other hand, I can't quite understand if your writing is of an illiterate style or an Easter surprise, one of those that you never know if they are in bad or good taste...
Primus Brown Album
Voto:
I've never tried to hit on a girl with Primus in the background, and I'm not even sure if the result would be the same as with Venusian. I like the album in question, and quite a bit (the grand "his momma asked 'why?'" made in Les is fantastic) but I prefer the earlier ones and "Antipop."
Calibro 35 Ritornano Quelli Di... Calibro 35
Voto:
Great review of a group with the right attributes, there's no denying that. I don't know if "Ritornano Quelli Di..." is better or slightly inferior to the eponymous work, but the fact is that Enrico Gabrielli's group demonstrates once again its eclecticism and the desire to achieve great things. Just listen to the boogie-woogie twist of "Convergere In Giambellino" to get an idea... (as I wrote in my review which can be read here: Nothing found for 2010 04 02 Calibro 35 Ritornano Quelli Di Calibro 35 )
Almamegretta Lingo
Voto:
I wanted to write this review myself... well, anyway, you did a great job! "Lingo" is an album I adore with all my heart, one of the five masterpieces ranging from "Animamigrante" to "Imaginaria" (I won't count "Indubb," even though it's quite interesting). It must be said that after that thrilling live performance called "Venite! Venite!" and Raiz's departure, Alma lost a lot, also due to Facchielli's exit. Even if "Vulgus," from 2008, has a series of really beautiful songs, like "Guarda Annanz'" (the temporary "return home" of Raiz!) or "Primmavera Nova"... and then there's Princess Julianna again!

I only vaguely know "Perfect From Now On" and "You In Reverse"... this is another gap to fill.
Timoria 2020 Speedball
Voto:
"Eta Beta" crap? Sorry, I disagree. For being the last album by Timoria sung by Renga, it's full of well-developed ideas. The furious "Fioriscono," the stylish "Faccia Da Rockstar," the good experiments "Sudeuropa" and "Europanic" (the latter will then bridge to "Supermarket" in "El Topo Grand Hotel"), the crazy cover of "Zobi La Mouche" by Les Negresses Vertes, the heartfelt "L'Isola Del Tempo"...and more.
