woodstock, I didn't mean to offend you, I just wanted to give you a couple of tips on some great 80s albums, but only 80s, I wouldn’t presume to give general advice or preach about your tastes... ah, the Rolling Stones are better than the Beatles ;-)))

oooh what a commotion here! Cinzia, I see you're very knowledgeable about Italian pop music; could you point me to the forums for Pausini and Ramazzotti? I have a couple of things to say to them and their fans :-DD

Larian, Luca Sofri is a journalist, brother of Adriano Sofri... they have nothing to do with music at all.

Well, yes, of course, there is, you’re right, your post makes sense and if we want to make comparisons, let’s do it wisely, but perhaps Hetzer was referring to the charts. You know, in the 60s and 70s there were big groups and great artists, but since the late 70s, unfortunately, we know how things ended up, and I’m particularly referring to the Italian charts and Italian radio. Still, in the 80s, some radio stations were holding their own, but now...

Not to mention the TV journalists who, to exploit their temporary fame or a famous relative, like Luca Sofri, suddenly become music experts and critics, publishing small books with the songs and musicians worthy of being remembered according to the author's tastes, of course. I've read a few pages of this book and I wonder why this so-called friend felt the need to buy a book to know the general opinion on the music of Luca Sofri… I could give a thousand examples of the absolute incompetence that oozes from that book, but I’ll just limit myself to this: according to Sofri, Van der Graaf Generator are not worthy of being remembered because they sold few copies and only twelve people know them... eloquent, right? And here’s where the masses, the Sunday listeners, take their cues from!

The point is that for every decade since the 80s, only the negative things are remembered because they are and have been the most publicized... let me explain in simple terms: everyone remembers Duran Duran from the 80s but few remember Black Flag or Bauhaus... and the same goes for the 90s and these unfortunate years, which will probably be remembered more for Jennifer Lopez and co. than for Grinderman or Espers or other bands of all kinds... c'est la vie! Let’s be thankful we have the internet and this site, and we don’t have to endure the crap that they feed us on TV and in the newspapers.

Sorry, I want to emphasize that my only serious comment is the one where I recommend to Woodstock to throw away this record... why don't you take life a little more lightly?
