Dearest M.Poletti, aside from the fact that the question of beauty and ugliness was buried around the mid-1800s, I must deduce that for you the extremely outdated Gone with the Wind seems far too avant-garde (but that was already understood). The discussion is too long, and I probably wouldn’t even be able to explain it to you in words (and then, as long as you don't use your own words about "meetings" and "convent," why should I bother explaining my criteria?).

Here's the thesis of Minchione that you quoted: Family films (DOES THIS MAKE IT A MASTERPIECE? I DIDN'T KNOW, I SHOULD THROW AWAY 90 PERCENT OF THE MOVIES I HAVE), with good educational content (ARE WE IN SCHOOL?), have created a series of "image precedents" that are part of the communication and culture of the twentieth century (HIGHLY DEBATABLE, e.g.: GODARD DID CREATE SYMBOLIC IMAGES): the ironic grit of Gable (STAYS IN THE HEART INDEED), the whimsical nature of Vivian (SOAPY), the measured gesture of Howard (WHO REMEMBERS HIM), the relentless sweetness of de Havilland (ANOTHER SOAP BUILT LIKE A SPOT), the common sense and presence of Mamie (McDaniels, the first actor of color awarded an Oscar) (SEE POST ABOVE). All "signals" that are part of the habits of different generations of Westerners (BUT WHO???). Like some great titles in cinema, and perhaps more than any other, Gone with the Wind is something more than a film (YES A SOAP, e.g.: OF COURSE 2001 IS DEFINITELY INFERIOR, NO DOUBT). It’s an old friend (YES, ONE YOU'D LIKE TO KICK IN THE ASS), a dear habit (I LEAVE HABITS TO THE ASSHOLES).

Bubi, who cares, I'm not the messiah, I say what I see from FAKE films. Well, POLET, I didn't say you were the only one who fell for it, but: 1) I'm talking to you, 2) you want to defend great cinema a) with phrases taken from others, which leads me to conclude that you must have first read a review (or more than one) to say whether a film is good or not. b) You position yourself as a champion of (what you consider) good cinema, yet as soon as someone challenges what you say, you immediately lean on debeseriani (previously insulted, as per your posts) who defend that film along with you, thus becoming connoisseurs for supporting your pathetic arguments.

I think bjork68's reference to Mamie is truthful (I don’t know if she won or was a candidate, but at least the second hypothesis is true) and this raises even more suspicion about the falsehood of good manners (given that civil rights for Black people come much later) that this little film (Gone with the Wind, a more appropriate title because the impact it had on true cinema is equal to air) was created in the studios (with a photography that couldn't be more kitsch) of Hollywood where they invented the most anti-cinematic event imaginable, the Oscars, dedicated to unifying a mindset and taste (which the small and naive Poletti fell for completely). Everything is premeditated just as one realizes while watching this film or rather the ultimate soap opera. Dear Poletti (perhaps) tomorrow will be another day.
