My God, what did I miss today? A guy who is probably self-promoting and creating obvious fakes to defend himself, including a diegocusano86? BUT YOU ARE BEYOND!

The Horst-Wessel-Lied (The Song of Horst Wessel), otherwise known as Die Fahne hoch (Raise the Flag), was the official anthem of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) from 1930 to 1945. The lyrics were written in 1929 by Horst Wessel to the melody of the Königsberg-Lied, a song popular among the veterans of the Königsberg ship that was widely used in the Freikorps. When Wessel was assassinated by a communist militant in 1930, Joseph Goebbels, the future Minister of Propaganda of the Third Reich, exploited his image, turning him into a martyr for the national socialist cause. The melody thus became the official anthem of the party and was initially sung by the SA during their parades.
When the national socialists rose to power, the Song of Horst Wessel also became a sort of second national anthem of Germany. In 1939, Adolf Hitler ordered that Das Lied der Deutschen (The Song of the Germans) be performed at a relatively slow tempo so that it would serve as a melody that consecrated the Nation, to be immediately followed by the performance of the Song of Horst Wessel, which was to be performed at a faster tempo, as a revolutionary struggle song. This combination was called Lieder der Nation (Songs of the Nation); typically, the first verse of each of the two songs was performed. After the end of World War II and the defeat of Nazi Germany, the Allies prohibited the performance of the Horst-Wessel-Lied (and initially also of the Lied der Deutschen). Playing the piece in public is still illegal under the penal code of the Federal Republic of Germany (Articles 86 and 86a).

You listen to a record of pure, and often excessively so, citationism from the previous decades, and what do you do? You complain in a tedious and verbose diatribe about the future of music for the young people? Alright, but if you were listening to new stuff, like Skrillex or Metro Station, what were you doing? Shooting yourself in the balls? Puncturing your eardrums with a sewing pin? Subscribing for a year to Famiglia Cristiana?

I gave them a listen and it seems really nice. Strange, considering that I had only heard Screamadelica and I didn't like it very much.

So many memories, those eternal classics that do their job well while the big names consistently embarrass themselves.
