Hi Deneil. Today in the car, I listened to quite a bit of Battisti Mogol. I think many of the Mogol lyrics are a bit off. Like when he talks about overpriced frozen food in "Perché no" or writes silly lyrics like "Il monolocale" or "Donna selvaggia donna", two examples where Battisti's music deserved better words. Panella wouldn’t have let us down in such cases... Of course, I won’t deny that songs like "I giardini di marzo", "Il mio canto libero", or "La collina dei ciliegi" are, for me, beautiful. But ultimately, good old Giulio hasn't quite given his best in 70% of the songs.

Instead, I don't think that with Hegel the collaboration had to necessarily come to an end. At least 2 or 3 others fit in perfectly. Hegel seems beautiful to me like the others, perhaps more challenging in some parts but beautiful nonetheless. Nothing is indispensable, but since there are only 40 published songs by Pa-Ba, why deprive ourselves of the last 8? Bye.

First: what's wrong if Marco Poletti loves Battisti's music and reviews it? I don't know? I'm on board with everything, but I would mention I sacchi della posta, which I find beautiful and catchy just like the metro. And then I also quote my favorite line from the album: e lei si è invaghita del bitume. Great Pasqualone!

I can't assess the truthfulness of what Michele writes, but it seems absurd to say that Don Giovanni lacks music... that Lucio himself says it, I just can't believe it (then more than Battisti, who did speak Romanesque that's true, he sounds like Funari the way Michele quotes him). Don Giovanni is a beautiful album, even though I prefer both L'apparenza and La sposa occidentale. Songs like Le cose che pensano, Il diluvio are immense and Fatti un pianto is an earworm gem (far from Mogol).

I consider L'apparenza to be the most beautiful album by Battisti and thus of all Italian music. Every time I listen to it, I enjoy it more and more, and in particular, I love A portata di mano, a song created not to bore the listener. And it's not even that difficult to memorize and hum along to. L'apparenza is also wonderful for other reasons. Anyone who discovers it and has the patience to listen to it two or three times can no longer do without it, just like the entire CD. It’s tough to go back to Venditti, Baglioni, and the usual crowd... The song format, in terms of melody, I believe is only absent in A portata and perhaps in scenario; in the others, deep down, it’s present since the passages repeat. Is L'apparenza an ambiguous album? Ah, that one…
