The Dandy Warhols Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia

Annoying, no ifs or buts. It's not enough to recite 4 rock clichés to be rock. Listening to this record once is the most you can ask from a pair of ears connected to a brain. Hence the ratings:
PJ Harvey Rid Of Me
Voto:
A must-have album for those wanting to know the pre-glitter and sophisticated rockstar PollyJane. Songs made of menstruation & guitar take on a raw form, embodying psychological exploration through recurring symbols (snakes, water, flights, blood, etc.), two-person relationships, and S E X. Steve Albini produces this album, with his usual crackling sounds, pushing to the maximum the turbulent girl from Dorset. Soon to come will be the MAINSTREAM consecration of TO BRING YOU MY LOVE, the duet with NICK CAVE, and the electronic temptations of IS THIS DESIRE?, as well as the contented & bourgeois STORIES FROM THE CITY, STORIES FROM THE SEA. But all the defagrant poetry of PJHARVEY is found in the first two albums, recorded without session musicians and high-profile collaborators, but with her original band. This album holds historical significance because it confirms the necessity of a female perspective in rock, at a time when rock is making a powerful resurgence, waving ancient-new myths like banners (see GRUNGE and all the attached trinkets: shirts from NEIL YOUNG's wardrobe, electric guitars, long hats, sonic youth, and so on). Despite the cliché that would have BASS- GUITAR & DRUMS as symbols of the most base machismo, POLLY towers, with her rage and despair like a new MEDEA (at least in her essential first 3 albums), alongside the protagonists of rock. Truly an album deserving of *****.

After reading such a lengthy piece, I felt quite sad: are young people really like this today?

Neil Young Live at Massey Hall 1971

Here is almost all the NEIL that matters: the magical one from the early 70s, with the "ruins" of his formidable previous experiences behind him: BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, CSN&Y, and the first 3 solo albums. This LIVE, retrieved from the ARCHIVES, is thrilling in its simplicity and freshness. Songs like Heart of Gold and Old Man are presented to the audience here for the first time...

Good review, distinguished by the GREAT conclusion...

Dear UXO and others... I have already made a public amends for my confusion between the word "narcissism" and "hedonism," probably induced by my (insane) readings... that it was in this film, I never had any doubt about it.

Alright... my memory has holes... I remembered the conversion to HEDONISM, which, by the way, is the TRUE religion of modernity (See Pasolini's "Lettere Luterane," Ed. Einaudi). It doesn't seem too difficult that I might have replaced one word with another; after all, we are human. However, I would like to verify... also with the others...
