Not a sensational album from Manowar but well-played and well-made.. the most beautiful songs for me are "Master Of The Wind" and "Achilles, Agony And Ecstasy In Eight Parts", I can't remember the others. I think I heard "Metal Warriors", but nothing exceptional.. anyway, great Manowar, no doubt about it! HOLY WAR!!

Yes, well, "Impressioni Di Settembre" may resemble ELP, there's no doubt about it, but VDGG are also a very important band for the development of prog. Gentle Giant are one of my favorite bands in the genre... I have "Acquiring The Taste" and "Octopus" and I must say they are both masterpieces, along with "Three Friends," "Free Hand," and "In A Glass House."

You're right, Bartleboom, I just listened to "Master Of The Wind" and "Bridge Of Death" and I found two similarities with some pieces from "Fighting The World" and "King Of Metal." The refrain of "Master Of The Wind" is almost identical to that of "Heart Of Steel," while that of "Bridge Of Death" is very similar to "Black, Wind, Fire And Steel"!

alessioIRIDE, I didn't say that punk is a subgenre of metal, are we joking?? I said that by heavy music I meant metal, hard rock, and punk because punk ultimately has a fast and hard sound!!

Yes, I know Bartleboom, "Fighting The World" is a work heavily influenced by American glam rock, just think of "Blow Your Speakers" and "Violence And Bloodshed"... while for me "Kings Of Metal" will always be a great album by Manowar! Tracks like "Wheels Of Fire", "Sting Of The Bumblebee", "Hail And Kill", "Blood Of The Kings" are exceptional! If we really want to talk about epic tracks, perhaps the best are "Wheels Of Fire", "Kingdom Come", "Blood Of The Kings", where Eric makes some insane screams! Anyway, it's true that "Kings Of Metal" and "Hail And Kill" have some catchy and cheesy choruses, but they are famous and beautiful songs! "Guyana" is an exceptional song, where De Maio excels in the initial bass solos... great melody and epicness. Anyway, thanks for suggesting I re-listen to "Hatred" and "Bridge Of Death"... MARCH FOR REVENGE!!

If others liked it... what can I do if you didn't like it? Anyway, thanks for the advice, which I have already implemented in the Aerosmith review. By hard music, I meant heavy metal and its subgenres, including punk... that's all.

In 1986 there were plenty of musical revolutions... for example, thrash, hair glam metal, death, new wave, and so on. It was a period rich in good music, even from a pop perspective, and of course, don't misunderstand me on this last statement!! For me, the Ramones, in addition to their glorious career in the 70s, continued resolutely and confidently on their path, without being influenced by anyone, throughout the eighties. I have the utmost respect for them, but I don’t think music lost its quality; on the contrary. In the eighties, albums like this one and all the others are really beautiful... just look at the songs they contain! For me, they made amazing music up until "Adios Amigos"!

I would define "Red" and "The Devil's Triangle" as the darkest songs by King Crimson! Anyway, going back to the previous discussion, for me PFM owes a lot to Van Der Graaf Generator... "Impressioni Di Settembre" really sounds like a VDGG piece, especially in the keyboard section. On the other hand, some tracks by Le Orme resemble Gentle Giant...

I really like "Fighting The World," even if it's considered a bit of a joke! That album contains some classics from the band, like the title track, "Carry On," "Defender," "Black, Wind, Fire And Steel," and "Holy War"! It's so underrated. Meanwhile, I can't understand why people also speak poorly of the immense "Kings Of Metal"! It's something I just can't grasp, but of course, taste is taste, to each their own!

You're right! Even Vanexa, especially on the anonymous album, sound a bit off.. unfortunately at the time the recordings and productions were lacking, even though those works are something exceptional. Have you heard any new bands on Vibrations? There are some groups that I really don't know.
