Better or worse than "Mandylion"? ... Who cares? I enjoy both. And all the subsequent albums, of course. Great The Gathering.

S???t???????a sµ??????a - Soutzoukakia Smyrneika A dish made with cumin-flavored meat, originating from the city of Smyrna, an ancient Greek city on the coast of Asia Minor, now a Turkish city. They are "sausages" made of beef cooked in a tomato sauce. Ingredients: 3 rusks, 500 g of ground beef, 1 egg, 2-3 cloves of garlic, 2 teaspoons of cumin, 1 glass of white wine, salt and pepper, 30 g of flour, 45 g of vegetable oil, 30 g of extra virgin olive oil, 1200 g of peeled tomatoes or tomato purée, and chopped parsley for garnish - Crumble the rusks into powder. Combine the crumbled rusks with the meat, along with salt, pepper, garlic, the egg, cumin, and 3 tablespoons of white wine. Mix everything with your hands until you get a homogeneous mixture. Then form long meatballs, as if they were sausages. Once the soutzoukakia are shaped, dust them with flour and fry them in a little well-heated vegetable oil, making sure to brown them well all around. Meanwhile, cook the tomatoes in a pan with olive oil, the rest of the white wine, salt, and pepper for 5 minutes. Then add the soutzoukakia and let them cook slowly, adding a splash of water if the sauce starts to reduce too much.

Agreed on everything... I found it as well written and played as it was cold.

Hi Meme, thanks for the valuable comment. I saw Anathema last year, but in my case, they were headliners and they gave us an intense concert lasting over two hours, with a setlist (about 25 songs) covering all the albums from "Eternity" to "We're Here..." However, they excluded what I believe is their best album ever and one of my absolute favorites (and I don’t quite agree with you when you say that one cannot recognize the true masterpiece of the band, but hey, in the end it’s just my opinion): "A Fine Day To Exit." I just don't understand why they insist on neglecting it. Maybe you weren't fully convinced at Pistoia Blues because they had little time available, but I assure you that when their music is free to breathe, they truly give their best. As for MDB: I revere "Turn Loose The Swans" and "The Angel And The Dark River" (among the best metal albums of the 90s), two authentic masterpieces, and "Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light," while historically less important, should be left untouched by anyone. I do not dispute the immense value of those albums. Rather, it's the rest of their discography that has diminished for me: some albums have aged really poorly ("The Light..." and "The Dreadful Hours"), and I notice this simply because for years I haven't felt the need to play them and listen to them in full. Then, well, "Like Gods Of The Sun" has always been terrible for me, while "A Line..." which I used to enjoy a lot, now just seems like a decent little album... Let's just say nothing about the more recent releases. I don’t know, it really seems to me that, from being undisputed standard-bearers of the most decadent doom, they have slowly become mere whiners, a sort of parody of themselves... We'll see what they come up with for the next EP, which seems to already be in the works and is probably set for release towards the end of this year...

Today I listened to "Heritage" for the third time and I still don't understand a damn thing. Pure mannerism. Cerebral and fragmented. Said like this, it might sound like complete bullshit, but paradoxically, it's precisely for these reasons that it intrigues me more and more... Time will tell. In the meantime, the rating for the review.

Third review (the best), and once again far too generous with the record in question...
