American melodic rock is an almost extinct genre. The surviving bands can be counted on one hand (and that says a lot, you would rightly argue). It follows that making this genre for the sake of making money now would be a suicidal move, since at least in America and the UK, piano-rock (Coldplay, One Republic, The Fray) and rap/hip hop are all the rage. Groups like Puddle Of Mudd or Papa Roach (a bit more aggressive, but still melodic) are commercially washed up; therefore, I believe they make this kind of music out of passion or some predisposition and not to hit a broad target. Tiziano Ferro is the exact opposite; he is "in fashion," so the comparison is, in my opinion, inappropriate. If one believes that music is only good or beautiful when a piece has forty chords, thirty-seven solos, and five hundred variations, then it’s a purely subjective discussion. From my perspective, there exists "simple" music that is both beautiful and ugly and "more complex" music that is also beautiful and ugly. 3 Doors Down knows how to make "simple" music quite well. I want to see one of us sit down at a table and write a piece like "Here Without You." In 99 out of 100 cases, it would turn out to be a flop, I believe.

I'm intrigued, but between one thing and another, I've always forgotten to listen to it. I will take care of it, since I love Mars Volta.

I expected you to review it. I still have to listen to it; they've never been monsters of originality, that's for sure, but in my opinion, they definitely know how to write. Here Without You was incredibly sweet but also had a remarkable melodic line. I'll listen and let you know.

Great. The record is just sufficient, a 2.5. I round it up.

You know what piques my curiosity? I've always found Simply Red largely underrated.
Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction

For me, it remains a masterpiece, their only one.

The fact is that Italian radio looks for "fame" rather than quality. If "Nature's Law" had been by Coldplay, it would have received nauseating airplay. The reason for this might be due to record label dynamics that we perhaps don’t fully understand, as the good Mopaga says. Of course, the recipe of Embrace consists of U2 plus Verve plus Oasis plus Coldplay, all of which are hugely successful bands here. Bah...

@ anfoxx: it’s a bit of the same fate as bands like Manic Street Preachers, Feeder, and similar ones. They would have the singles, but maybe they’re just not "sponsored" enough.
