You know, tomgil, I don't know if you agree, but I find that Tom's voice sometimes resembles Michael Stipe's. I'm referring to the first album (which I think deserves a solid three stars), considering that lately I've been focused on other listens (first among them the new Q.O.T.S.A. album). I will give this one a listen. Competent and detailed review.

Guys, anyway "I Don't Know How To Love Him" is the official single and it's playing on the radio...

And I’m not a fan, just a listener of the Strokes' music. I repeat: the CRAP of the Strokes is ROOM ON FIRE...

Everyone has unjustly criticized this album, with the most disparate accusations; in my opinion, the media attack, unjustified in both cases, is second only to "Around The Sun" by R.E.M.. It’s a great album with three of the band’s best singles, there are significant technical improvements, they’ve reinvented themselves positively without changing too much. Better than the crap (that really!!!) of "Room On Fire," the debut is obviously almost unmatchable. That they may be excessively derivative is a completely different discussion.

Great review, I'm among those who will buy it (and wait for) the original. Note: but did Antics horrify you so much? I'm voting for the single, the only track I've heard.

To me, this one by Elisa has only vague vocal and somatic similarities, that's it. The influences seem different... and lately, Elisa seems more influenced by Pausini...

Amazing review for one of the few artists who give some (even if faint) hope to female rock in Italy. This one has guts, no doubt, unlike Elisa (now definitively washed up). Check out the single; it’s no small feat for an Italian artist. Of course, I’ll be listening to the album.

The Verve are back together
It's official: the Verve are back together. Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones, and Pete Sailsbury have scheduled six concerts for November: the 2nd and 3rd at the Academy in Glasgow, the 5th and 6th at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, and the 8th and 9th at the Roundhouse in London. A new album is also on the horizon.

In a statement, the band announced they are "getting back together for the joy of making music." In reality, Ashcroft's solo career, after a decent first album, has proven to be rather unsuccessful, and the other members haven't done much either. Except for Simon Tong, who will not be part of the reunion as he is busy with The Good The Bad And The Queen.

The November shows will be the first concerts of the Verve in about a decade. The group disbanded in 1999 after relations between Ashcroft and McCabe became untenable.

The new album, according to 'Nme.com', is already in the works and should be completed by summer. There are no speculations yet regarding the release period.

Burns, I don’t think writing an album like Thriller is a waste. Anyway, you either love Jacko or you hate him.
