The references to Carmelo Bene, thank God, are numerous and evident. I say this because I really like Carmelo Bene. I read somewhere that "L'Impero delle Tenebre" was initially supposed to be called "Sono Appa alla Madonna," just like Carmelo Bene's biography. The references don't stop there. Artaud, Céline, Gli Area, De André, Baudelaire... and I must say that I really enjoy a record that quotes and quotes. The Jesus Lizard, you say? I believe they have expanded the legacy of the Lizard by adding a penchant for songwriting and some progressive deviations.
