Damn, another Piero? Does he also speak badly of the Beatles?

In fact, Dylan can do whatever he wants like any other ultra-sixty rockstar... any problem "Arnold Layne"?

I don't share the opinion of "I love music" that one should retire at retirement age... it doesn’t seem to me that Paul, Dylan, or Jagger are taking away space from talented young people.

riccardo@.."ask some bum on the street and they will always repeat these two clichés." What nonsense, unfortunately uninformed people stand there with their mouths wide open when critics speak.. Sgarbi, the most televised, advertised, and useless of them all (the second is Scaruffi), has understood this and has been capitalizing on it for years... "The bum on the street who hasn't read Mengaldo or the critical profiles of the twentieth century (because they usually sweat and work) should instead kick your asses and settle the score with you hysterical intellectuals.

I don't think that Mino Reitano or Pupo can influence much; they influence those with more weight; no one copies homework from a donkey.

In my opinion, there is no point in reasoning about the false perceptions that flags and symbols have on us to understand the difference between communism and fascism; instead, we should look at how these social orders were implemented. In fact, after World War II, what was commonly perceived as a communist society was the Russian dictatorship, followed by those of Eastern countries and Mao's regime. Today, more than sixty years later, we may have realized that Stalin, Mao, and those dictatorships were certainly not under a good star and were not at all benevolent towards the poor working classes. But as always happens, betraying the principles of the revolution, they guaranteed unlimited power to the party bureaucrats over the people and the economy (exercised, among other things, with inhuman ferocity). So, when the succession of leaders from a revolutionary party betray the cause, what does it become if not a bourgeois and right-wing party? As you can see, the evil is always there if you analyze things well—within the right, fascisms, or national socialisms, however you want to call them.

Longliverock, I can understand what you think; in fact, there is a big difference between a critic and artistic sensitivity. The former is "almost always" lacking talent (I wish I could, but I can't), and his limitations in this sense force him not to cross the threshold of the rational. He has to find concrete historical anchors that lead his reasoning somewhere and, above all, to verifiable conclusions. But what does he verify? He verifies if there is order in what others can do, not in himself. But who asks for this order? Usually, people like him who know little, poorly, or nothing about art. In simple words, the critic is a pain in the ass who sneaks artfully into the art (sorry for the pun), perhaps to fill the void that exists between him and the artistic work. Those who make criticism a profession or passion are like referees in a soccer game, presuming they can see fouls better than anyone else. But not only that; they claim to recognize the champions and decide who gets to play. The problem is that no one invited them to do so. Unfortunately, they are a real annoyance—damn they are.

riccardo@, to tell you the truth, I don't feel like defending the Beatles to the bitter end; I'm fed up with it, and I don't have to make them appealing to anyone. Their records are out there—those who love them can listen, and those who don't can flush them down the toilet. What I do want to defend are my opinions on certain intellectual critics who exploit arguments that border on political fantasy, filling their analyses with a sociocultural perspective that reeks of falsehood and is too personal, where arrogance becomes glaringly obvious, and I keep my distance from that. However, I must also admit that you have a lot of faith in your beliefs; I hope this allows you to be at peace with yourself. Goodbye.
