THE REVIEW

The most influential and important band in rock history as we remember it.

Four individuals who fused Blues sound with Hard Rock, Psychedelia, Folk and achieved celestial results.

Some claim, and in my opinion, it's never entirely wrong, that they've been hugely overrated. To those folks, I can say: if you were Led Zeppelin, it would really get on your nerves to hear such a statement. Considering the hard work these four put in, calling them overrated is pure and simple heresy.

Let's analyze the issue properly now: there are bands today, like Wolfmother, that recreate the same sounds that Plant/Page/Bonham/Jones had in the late '60s and '70s, receiving applause and ovations from the public and critics. At this point, we must necessarily ask ourselves a question: if Led Zeppelin had never existed, would rock history have been the same? No. If today, the year 2007, albums of the caliber of Led Zeppelin I, II, III, or IV or any other of these legendary monsters came out, what would happen? Someone would call it a miracle. They would make the same impact they did back then, if not greater, with today's thirst for good music.

This is the importance of the Zeps, the sound and compositional inventions that these individuals had are still relevant today and will be forever, just listen to the tracks from these two albums that collect the best of the dirigible's production:

"Communication Breakdown", "Since I've Been Loving You", "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You", "Dazed and Confused", "Whole Lotta Love" (tell me who, nowadays, could even think of a track like this..), "Immigrant Song", "Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Stairway to Heaven" (considered by many to be the most beautiful track ever written), "The Song Remains the Same", "Kashmir", just to name a few.. They encapsulate such overwhelming power and beauty that they forever frame them as immortal tracks in the history of rock and all music.

Plant's voice amazed with each listen for its power, flexibility, versatility, range, it was a magical journey, taking you to distant lands, to the edges of space, where gravity ceases and everything floats suspended in the void, Page's guitar composed rhythms and solos worthy of a classical piece, the fingers flew over the strings and what came out was shocking, unbelievable (if the Devil had been a guitarist, he would definitely have possessed Jimmy Page's body, and maybe he really did..), John Paul Jones was a hammer, his bass rhythms and keyboard parts were exceptional and he excellently filled the void of a single guitar (but what a guitar..), Bonzo was certainly a hammer, but pneumatic, knew how to caress the skins gently in soft parts and then explode with a power and technique that remains unmatched to this day.. A monster!

The Masters could hold concerts even for four hours, sorry if that's little.. Nowadays a concert, if it reaches two hours, is considered miraculous..

They will forever remain the Gods of Rock..
