I believe Jeff Buckley's Grace is one of the most overrated albums ever (but that's just my opinion). Anyway, if we really want to praise some albums outside of Absolution, I think Origin of Symmetry is worth three times more than Showbiz...

A beautiful review for one of the masterpieces of the new millennium. Absolution is, in my opinion, the best album by Muse. It has been since "Ok Computer" (1997) by Radiohead that something so majestic has been heard.

Did you ask the girl at the brewery if she had ever heard Long Tall Sally, Money, Rock and Roll Music, Bad Boy, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, etc.?
The term concept album seems to have been coined originally to refer to certain works by Frank Sinatra centered around a theme, like In the Wee Small Hours (1954), although the oldest example of a concept album might be Dust Bowl Ballads, the debut of Woody Guthrie (1940).
In the first three albums by Jefferson Airplane (from '66 to '67), the standard duration of a song hovers around 3 minutes, with only one song reaching up to 9 minutes.
6 out of 9 songs (2/3 of the album) from the self-titled debut of the Grateful Dead (1967) are around the 2.3-minute mark.
The MC5, in 1967, had not yet released any vinyl records.
If Sgt. Pepper came out of Pet Sounds, Pet Sounds (by the admission of its creator Brian Wilson) came out of Rubber Soul.
A year before the Velvet Underground, the Doors, and Pink Floyd, "Revolver" was released.
The song "Sgt. Pepper" was also performed live by Jimi Hendrix.
Whether Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was a song about LSD has never been confirmed by its author.
Personally, I'm not particularly fond of Sgt. Pepper; perhaps you're right that it capitalized on a trend... in my opinion, Rubber Soul and Revolver are superior to it...
