The site won't open for me :( Anyway, I take your word for it. It's not just the black and white that connects Revolver to Get Born, but also the intertwining lines drawn that branch out on the cover.

Punk is "technically" a step backward for rock... it's a fact. The cover of Get Born evokes Revolver (1966) by the Beatles, and Funhouse would only be released 3 years later. Alessiuccio, I listen to rock music even before (and especially) the Stooges. The truth is that if one of your favorite artists falls into plagiarism, it's all good, blah blah blah... if someone you don't like does it, then it's something disgusting. The playground is over, kids ;)

I know Nirvana very well. Before the Stooges came out (who, in my opinion, are simply a mix between the Stones and Velvet Underground, and certainly didn't invent anything), rock had already expanded quite a bit (1967). "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" only has the same bass riff as "Lust for Life" (which Iggy Pop himself copied from someone before him), but the composition develops in a completely different way.

To me, it seems pointless. After a full 4 years since the last Stooges album (1973) and only with the indispensable help of David Bowie, he managed to record his first solo attempts. I'm not convinced. But I might be wrong ;)
