Ah, are we talking about a movie?
H.P. Lovecraft Teoria dell'orrore. Tutti gli scritti critici

Excellent recommendation for an overview of Lovecraft's thought. An author I've known since I practically started reading and who has never left me. His tragic greatness is precisely what Houellebecq dissects in his essay; unfit for life, terrified of the real world, racist, unyielding dreamer, he lived practically his entire life dealing with a stream of visions, creatures, knowledge, obsessions, and horrors that constantly coursed through his mind, only partially channeled into his writings. This is why his legacy is greater than himself; beyond the often fluctuating literary quality of his works, he was an inventor, a forger of a new way to experience and shape the fear that afflicts us. A great thinker. With his limitations and pettiness, certainly, but immense.

HOLY SHIT, HAVE YOU ALREADY REVIEWED IT....
Well, I'll avoid duplicates for once and post my review here as a comment.. Don't hold it against me....
"Subject of the Theme: How to make a decent horror/science fiction series in the age of Justin Bieber, Pokémon Go, and Renzi's tweets.
Development: John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, teen comedy/horror, Wes Craven, X-Files (because the conspiratorial and evil government is always a guarantee...), Cronenberg, what will remain of these '80s, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Rob Reiner and thus Stephen King, Steven Spielberg and bicycles, Carpenter I've already said, Tangerine Dream I repeat, I think that should be enough. If you have others, feel free to step forward, huh...
For those who grew up in a certain decade, this is a kind of déjà-vu stretched over 8 episodes of considerable length.
That said, go ahead and make another series; it won't be a disappointment."
Oh, does anyone know if by any chance Winona Ryder stole something on set? Thx..
Zack Snyder Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I rewatch with a clear conscience.. I enjoyed it quite a bit. As you say, it’s tense, emphatic, serious, but all in all it works, and it’s curious that a film with “dawn” in the title is so crepuscular.. Of course, the contrast between the two superheroes is a bit forced, explained more in words than in actions (Batman’s hardness after twenty years of fighting crime practically leads him to paranoia..), but I expected worse. I can honestly say I wasn’t bored for even a minute. The actors did quite well overall; a surprise was Ben Affleck, angry and determined, more so than the demigods beside him; plus, the beatings and wrestling moves of Batman have just the right touch of ignorance, and the Batmobile is really badass. Cavill was good, and his tormented and insecure Superman is interesting; hats off to Gal Gadot, much hotter in evening wear than with a tiara and corset, Lex Luthor was wasted.
On the more comic book side, big disappointment for Doomsday; it’s absurd to waste one of the toughest villains of DC like that. They could have at least kept some trademarks like the bone chin and the knuckle spikes, but instead, nothing.. Oh well.
For me, it overall succeeded quite well, and DC/Warner have done much better than Marvel, no questions.. The constant references to the subsequent films in the series are a bit annoying, but it is what it is.. Beautiful the final twist with the absurd celebration of an empty coffin..
The moral of the clash between the two heroes raises eyebrows: mom is always mom..

This movie stinks from a mile away.. I mean, in 2016 and with Snyder directing, can you explain to me how and if it’s possible to adequately unravel a plot that has Batman pissed off at Superman, plus the intervention of Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, and throw in Doomsday too??
The thing is, Doomsday is one of the two reasons (the other is Gal Gadot) why I'm probably going to see it. I know I’ll be disappointed because I won't see him smash the Man of Steel like in the '92 comic, but better this stuff here than some random piece of garbage from Marvel, of which I only save the first Iron Man and the recent Ant-Man.
The problem now is that they no longer talk, reason, and produce in terms of films, but in terms of franchises: hence the almost necessity for these worthless scripts that tell without explaining a damn thing and accumulate elements to make another ten films.. This is the trend now...

Barclay James Harvest Featuring Les Holroyd Time Honoured Ghosts

Well done, great job.. The BJH are a group I feel very attached to, for their dedication to the genre, their simplicity that never edges into the obvious, at least until the '70s.. I perhaps prefer their pre-Polydor period, for the more "old" and rough sound, and for their sincere and direct quest for a synthesis between rock and orchestra.. They are an underrated band that, paradoxically, seems to have somewhat undervalued themselves. In terms of sound, just listen to BJH Live to realize this, and in terms of composition, unfortunately, the direction taken by Lees and Holroyd has led to results that are at least cloying.. This is a good album but I definitely prefer "Octoberon".. Just a small note, although the "oversight" can be imported into the database: at the time they were still simply "Barclay James Harvest"...

Come on, you can already tell from the trailer and the posters that it's garbage.. Marvel is getting a bit annoying, but these movies rake in the big bucks and they'll keep cranking them out, no doubt about it.. With DC Comics following closely behind, what a cheerful outlook..

Frankly, I don't see the scandal; people want crap and he delivers crap; and he's making a profit too. It's like your dealer, who robs you of money and brain while you rub your hands in anticipation of the impending thrill.. C'est la vie, folks!
Quentin Tarantino The Hateful Eight

Long, verbose, bad, very (too) American... It never runs in circles, everything works like a charm, but it feels more like an experiment, a theatrical play, a slow and convoluted caravan of emotions that, as you rightly pointed out, seems to lead everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Tarantino has left nothing to chance, and it shows; there’s nothing out of place, and indeed, the film isn’t bad in itself, quite the opposite. It’s more shocking than funny, more unsettling than quirky, more wicked than a jerk. That’s fine; I liked it even if it’s not at the top, but it didn’t entertain or engage me as much as other Tarantinos. I find the now endemic self-referentiality of the director a bit heavy; it does make you smile, but after a while, it leaves you perplexed.
Anyway, if it weren’t disorienting or unpredictable, it wouldn’t be Tarantino; so again, that’s fine.
