I had never paid attention to the esoteric symbolism, yet another reason to remember the immensity of this album. It seems to be everyone's favorite sport to tear down Mellon Collie, but you're not that skilled at this sport, mediocre athletes, horrible and trite, a bunch of has-beens.

I don't see much of a connection between Van der Graaf and Joy Division; the dark and theatrical aura they both had isn't enough to link them. Moreover, I don't think they were inspired by Van der Graaf. According to them, Curtis and Hook listened a lot to Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Velvet Underground.
