As I've already said, the Mayhem hold enormous sentimental value for me, and I also consider them a good band that created a masterpiece of the genre. You’re right, I don’t consider Mayhem the father of black metal at all, but I believe they are still more than what Deicide are in death metal (I know what you think about Deicide, I think the same…). And I don’t think they have ever been a given reality, quite the opposite. I agree with you about Darkthrone as well, but it’s what I was telling you, it’s not introspection, it’s emotion, at least from my perspective (I’ll try to listen to the songs you mentioned). And then if Mayhem makes you want to kick the neighbor's dog, that’s a positive thing; after all, it’s a very Brutal activity ;-)
