Led Zeppelin In Through The Out Door

Don't worry, I got the meaning of your statement, but I believe everyone has their own idols that they would prefer not to be touched by anyone. For me, it's Led Zeppelin. I agree on the greatness of Bonzo as a drummer, an irreplaceable personality in the history of music.

To tell the truth, I never really liked Gary Moore from the '80s much. I don’t have that, but I have an old collection where there are some tracks from that album, and aside from The Loner and Empty Rooms (from Run for Cover), the others don’t excite me too much, but it’s a matter of taste, you know... Personally, I much prefer the turn he took in the '90s, with Still Got the Blues, After Hours, and Blues for Greeny above all. Now I find him a bit lackluster, but I haven't heard the latest album, Old New Ballad Blues yet, and then another studio album is scheduled for release in May; the title should be Close As You Get, and since my faith in Moore will never fade, I’m eagerly waiting.

Indeed, it's the worst thing Zeppelin have ever produced, but I can't bring myself to give it a 3; I'm too attached to this album (and to All My Love in particular). X is right: I agree that the 80s seemed to promise some dreadful years, but to hear someone say that it's better that Bonham is dead breaks my heart. He was one of the greatest losses in hard rock; if he were alive, he would still amaze us today.
Miles Davis Porgy And Bess

No, honestly, I've already started to dig some jazz and fusion. When I realized that the typical sounds of rock (repeated endlessly) were starting to bore me, I found musical satisfaction elsewhere, starting from Pat Metheny and reaching Coltrane, with a little stop at Dave Brubeck. However, when I heard Bitches Brew, it hit me like a slap of psychedelia; compared to that, Pink Floyd seem like the church choir of San Vito... Every time that son of a bitch plays his trumpet, it feels like he’s hitting me with bare hands, but the more he disorients me, the more fascinated I become. Who knows, maybe as Dr. Fottermeier says, Miles Davis has already got me, and I’ve entered his tunnel. And I don't mind that perspective at all.

A friend of mine also recommended In A Silent Way, I think I'll definitely give that and Kind Of Blue a try! Thank you all so much!

Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable about Miles Davis, but I would like to get a little closer to his music. I bought Bitches Brew, but I found it a bit hard to digest... Can anyone recommend something softer for a first approach... Thanks.

Of all the Pat albums I've listened to, this is the one I digest the least. Maybe you're right when you say he was a bit tired and had his mind elsewhere, but you can still feel that many tracks were written with some effort. The review is impeccable, as always when you review Metheny. It must be the passion...

The most heartfelt and touching review I've ever read on this site. Congratulations, especially for the courage to share such deep and heavy feelings. Well done.

Copied from a CD that was in turn copied, listened to once and put in the forgotten drawer.
