I don't like Verdena, they really don't say anything to me, but I think Grant Nicholas is right: even if something isn't innovative, it can still be beautiful (not to mention that I prefer Kid A/Amnesiac to Hail To The Thief). For example, I really enjoy the blues in all its forms, a genre that I think has evolved very little over time, but which is still quite appreciable!

Regarding English, I’m once again on your side (except for Afterhours, I struggle to criticize them). Italian is a very articulate and colorful language; a well-crafted text without too many eeeeeeeee can be a hundred times more expressive than cold English. Try listening to Capossela, for example: it may not be rock (and given your tastes, you might not like it much), but he has such intricate lyrics, with a vocabulary so vast that you can hardly make sense of it on the first listen, yet it actually has more than enough meaning.
