The Virus Nowhere to Hide

Anyway, while I do like this album, I also prefer the Gun Club, Husker Du, or Radio Birdman, even though I have a particular fondness for Unsane who came afterward. I’ll take this opportunity to do a bit of propaganda for two compilations that would suit anyone wanting to get into this music: "All That Punk," reviewed on DeBaser, which I think is the best. "Punk O Rama" is also good, featuring 10 CDs and a DVD packed with music, from Bad Religion to Rancid, NOFX, New Bomb Turks, Cramps, Pennywise, Descendents, Offspring, even Tom Waits with "Big in Japan," and many other unknowns or almost. (There are lots of compilations, another one is "200% Punk Masters.")

Are Unwound and Unsane to be discarded? For me, Unsane touches peaks of genius that even DISCHARGE and the other bands you mentioned haven't reached. Just my personal opinion.

But what does that mean? So is everything punk to be thrown away if it can't be reinterpreted because times and mindsets have changed? Music has its own value beyond trends and social contexts. Why aren't the same discussions held for singer-songwriters like Young, Dylan, etc.? Even today, there are artists who reinterpret their music more or less, and it's been 40 years.

This record proves that you can still make good hardcore music today. At least 4 great tracks: "My Life, My World," "So Long," "Rats in the City," and "No One Can Save You." Good review.

All good.

The review is good, but I don't love movies about serial killers, unless they're based on true stories.

It almost slipped away from me, very beautiful.

You are right about Cage, especially regarding Elisabeth Shue. I could never fully consider it a film about alcoholism, but rather a good idea (from a true alcoholic) brought to life by a skilled director (Figgis) who, after an enjoyable first half-hour, moves forward with his talent and craft. Las Vegas helps. A truly good film about alcoholism is "Die Bank," which I believe is Danish and nobody knows about. I find "L’imperatore di Roma" by Nico D’Alessandria overrated, and I didn't like "I giorni del vino e delle rose" either, while "Giorni perduti" is very well made.
