Even Italian-style TV crime dramas are worth nothing, evidenced by the fact that we massively import from abroad, see Derrik, Colombo, etc... the list is endless. Why is it that others don’t buy anything from us? Here there are no ideas because there is no turnover, and when there is, it follows the Italian rule: if you have connections, you get ahead, if not... you're out of luck. Even the much-lauded Montalbano is considered nothing more than barely adequate in Germany. There is one exception, which is La Piovra, that truly drew great audiences beyond our borders.

Poor Italian thriller, it's the worst I know. The English, Americans, and French have produced (used to produce) the best works in this genre, there's no doubt about it. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage is one of Argento's "best," and there's even a clever idea in it.
