[Instill the doubt that the "normality" could be him]... I believe he has succeeded brilliantly in sowing that doubt. And it's probably true.

I believe the real Paul Weller is the one from the Style Council; I've never seen him fitting the punk scene well. On the other hand, Joe Strummer definitely did. I think I even saw him in Pistoia, although saying I "saw" him feels excessive because I remember hearing them play while I was wandering around the stadium doing things that (at that time) interested me more. Concerts in stadiums were mostly just a meeting place; you didn’t go there to actually listen to them play. If you wanted to hear a concert properly, you’d go to see, I don’t know, Little Feat in a not-too-big venue with good acoustics. You also mentioned Malcolm McLaren, and it would be interesting to get to know this producer’s story in depth...

So, regarding Mina's version, I find it beautiful. Not quite at the level of Jobim, but almost. This is because Mina sings everything well. Especially the songs where she can sing at full capacity, but she also does the rest well. Good review.

“Deguello” is better, one of the best of the trio. But “Tube Snake Boogie” and “Pearl Necklace” aren't so bad; I really like them, the others I've forgotten. The cover is nice, a hundred times better than that of Deguello, which I find awful.

I knew Joe's early songs well; there were many things I liked. I checked, and now there are six songs left in my collection, a couple of which are excellent. I remember him as a guest on Carrà's show, who was amazed because he had brought along a bottle of... Whiskey? And he displayed it proudly. The review is poetic, well-written. Steppin' out is among my favorites.

At the time, I hated everything that even remotely resembled disco. I didn't know them apart from the instrumental "Love’s Theme." I listened to the sung version, and it didn't excite me. Then I found a couple more songs on YouTube, but they don't seem like they would win me over, even though today I don’t have as many prejudices regarding that genre. The review is good.

Don’t say goodbye so soon. I listened to a track on YouTube and it reminded me a bit of the Ramones (what a surprise?) and also of the X with a slightly different approach, especially in the way they sing. John Doe and Exene are from another planet. But you deserve the 5, if nothing else for your consistency...

I see you have very particular tastes; I don’t know much about the artists you write about. I have some Arthur Russell and some Lekman too. I like them. You write very well.

You really like Roth a lot; I’ve already expressed the effect he had on me. Anyway, I respect everyone’s opinions; after all, you’re not the only one. And then, as I've already said, no one can take away the credit for having broken a taboo that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

I bought the paperback version, but for various reasons it's in a box. However, I'm subscribed to Audible, so I listened to it. I don't have much to add to the positive reviews I've seen above; I basically agree. Even the life of an antihero can be told with grace and be enjoyable.
