I expressed my opinion; I saw the movie not long ago. I became convinced of my statement while listening to those tunes that reminded me of Nora Orlandi, which, in my opinion, were out of place. I have all my respect for Burt Bacharach, but that's my opinion. I checked Morandini, and he also writes: "Allietato da una suggestiva colonna musicale..." The film is from '69, and at that time, those choruses were very popular. The authors probably chose that solution because it was a western with a strong comedic vein, but I didn't appreciate it.

Poletti, you want to make me argue, and I'm really not in the mood for it. Speaking of Ombre Rosse, it seems to me that it hasn't been reviewed yet; I believe it deserves a bit more attention.

supersoul, about Butch Cassidy, I wanted to add that it has a soundtrack that I didn't like at all, it seems to be sung by the quattro più quattro of Nora Orlandi. However, it is perhaps the only western with large doses of comedy, and I really like that.

It’s true that he gave his best in just 10 years. Let’s say he burned brighter but shorter; after all, being the driving force behind two groups of the caliber of Buffalo and CSN&Y is no small feat. If we add in Super Session and Manassas, along with his solid performances in solo albums, it seems to me that he is underrated today. As for Young, who competes with Dylan for the top spot on the podium, I’m sorry, but Dylan is simply untouchable. Personal opinion, of course.

I went through all the comments, and in the end, I saw the one in the third-to-last position. However, it surely is a mistake; I don't know how it happened. I don’t consider the film indecent, just boring. Among the Westerns you mentioned, personally, I would add Corvo rosso non avrai il mio scalpo, Mezzogiorno di fuoco, Butch Cassidy, I Compari, and also our own C'era una volta il West, because aside from the story and the well-developed characters, I don’t recall any other film where the soundtrack integrates so perfectly with the story, becoming one with it. However, even though ranking films doesn’t make much sense, Ombre Rosse remains my favorite, by a nose. (Balla coi lupi deserves a separate discussion.)

Muffi, in comment n. 53 Lariana asked you to name some Western films that you consider superior to Stagecoach. A couple of comments earlier, you stated that there are better ones, and I would like to know what these films are.

Muffi, I have never given ratings to movies, I've only expressed opinions. Where did you see the first one?

For me, Lolita (which was one of my first reviews) cannot be considered a road movie; the film tells the unfortunate story of Lolita and Professor Humbert, a man at the mercy of a love obsession, stirred by the charm of a teenager. In the second part of the film, the conjunction between the escape of the two lovers and the road is not total; the road remains only a tool, a means to escape. There is never a moment when it can be considered the protagonist of the film itself.

Great album, from one of the best musicians of the 60s - 70s. Good review.
