a annoyingly rhetorical review, as well as absolutely useless. Instead, I would frame comment 72, the one by sanjuro.

Dear metalselo, let me seriously say that you haven't understood a thing about the album. Without any presumption, your perspective on evaluation is absolutely (and strictly) metal, and you judge the tracks based on riffs, vocal capacity, etc. Firstly, this is not metal; (prison sex is a super tight blues, the drums are mainly and rockingly rock) the references are rather to the early Black Sabbath, to R'n'B, to the hard rock of the '70s, somewhat like in the contemporary Seattle scene. Ultimately (and in my opinion) this is a great album, rocky, energetic, and "sweaty"; it's surprising that it's the same Tool from Lateralus.

@ghemison: I wrote poorly, this is pop (of low quality) dressed up for the evening, masking its zero musical value behind syrupy orchestrations and "sophisticated" lyrics. I listen to little pop, but I don't dismiss it automatically. @gustavo tanz: yes, I do like the theater album, and feel free to "attack" me, everyone is rightly entitled to their own perspective. Anyway, regarding this album, whether due to the hype that had built up or a certain catchiness, I picked it up and listened to it quite a bit; for me it's unbearable, partly because of the points that Nikki rightly highlighted, and partly because this album makes me think that the expressive range of pop is limited, broadly speaking. Let me explain, one thing is Zappa's pop which speaks about itself (about music) and mocks a certain mass conception through the language of the masses themselves. Another is Dalla, who is ironic and intelligent, or Battisti and the poetic hermeticism (but still pop) of Don Giovanni. Another is Baustelle, who limit themselves to the pop format due to a certain lack of compositional talent, yet at the same time have an extraordinary pretentiousness. And so you find yourself with musically insignificant pieces accompanied by quotations and "thick" lyrics (but not necessarily of depth) that, from my perspective, have no reason to exist.
