I agree with what you're saying, Longliverock. I really love the early albums of Dream, to which I'm very attached, but there was a distinction made between art and entertainment, and in this album, there's only the latter...

Metal, according to the "classic" stylistic canons, is in my opinion banal and sterile, the more conventional kind, in short. Sometimes the whore has great taste, and she blends various influences with excellent results. The "conventional" kind, on the other hand, in my opinion, has no reason to exist...

@OleEinar: I haven't read ALL the comments, and I don't want to chase anyone away :-) @justice: I think metal has said almost everything it had to say; now there's no more expressiveness and originality, so we end up with albums like this, which draw on past styles or records without innovating or conveying much. A fundamental requirement in rock is knowing how to compose along with absolute originality; then one must ask themselves WHY they listen to music, if it's for mere entertainment or to do some headbanging, in which case Symphony X works just fine...
