I'm not really into the genre either, to tell the truth (I've never heard of the second one you mentioned..), but until proven otherwise by more prominent artists unknown to me, I consider Allan the ultimate guru in the realm of virtuosic guitar playing, thanks to his very distinctive tone and his "virtuosically velvety" style (the faster passages are light and enjoyable, in my opinion). I recommend I.O.U from 1982, his second solo album. Any suggestions for constructive listening are always welcome; the mule is working at full capacity these days :-)

thank you very much everyone. @contemplazione: what do you think of Allan Holdsworth? (even though he doesn't strictly play jazz...)

With my current availability, going randomly would be a bit like shooting in the dark...
I've spent a lot on albums that aren't exactly essential...

I would take advantage of the list for Bartleboom, then :-)

@contemplation thank you very much, so I will start with something easier from this album... @happypippo yes, we need a list, regardless of personal tastes, just to avoid having to go into the jazz section and randomly pick something! (even though I’m a bit scared of Afro-American music)

great review, I'm getting the album (does it make sense to approach jazz with this? I'm completely ignorant on the subject...)
Neurosis A Sun That Never Sets

simply a fantastic album, along with the eye of every storm and the latest one... I really love this new direction of Neurosis, much more intense and emotional and absolutely detached from any classification...
