Pink Floyd The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

The dark side of the moon is definitely not a bad album, but I feel completely fine disregarding Pink Floyd after Atom Heart Mother.

who cares about stature. the piper remains high and unchallenged, a monument regardless of the name on the cover. it will never be reached again.

In my opinion, this work is much better than Ummagumma, which feels like a "rearrangement of ideas" to me... The psychedelia and experimentation of the Floyd without Barrett seem a bit soulless. Frankly, I don't understand alberto88 when he talks about coldness from the early Floyd; I believe Barrett is one of the few musicians who knows how to communicate on many levels, even from an emotional standpoint. (The solo albums are at times heartbreaking, a catharsis for moments of melancholy.)

I don't think I'll ever consider the possibility of a listening session; I had dark light and I couldn't even manage to listen to it all... de gustibus.
