Dream Theater Falling Into Infinity

The album contains some great tracks, like "Trial of Tears," "New Millennium," and "Lines in the Sand." The problem is some incredibly catchy choruses, overly sweet melodies, and a relentless pursuit of easy listening at all costs. Here, however, the band wasn't in good shape; Labrie is simply off-key (as evidenced by the live album "Once in a Lifetime"), and the production is scandalous, or almost. It is, however, not comparable to the last one, which is truly awful and shows a band at their worst. If before the songs were overall inspired (even though with assorted plagiarisms), now the group builds songs by collaging riffs and effects copied from others, and the vocal parts are falsely aggressive and ridiculous. I hope the next one comes out in a couple of years, and that they stop mocking the fans with talk of their integrity when they're more commercial than Metallica. It's a pity that so few have noticed...

neurosis "the eye of every storm", "the velvet underground and nico", pink floyd "the dark side of the moon", king crimson "in the wake of poseidon". These are all covers I like, regardless of the album, and they are the first ones that come to mind. Among the metal covers, some by Metallica, octavarium by Dream Theater, "morningrise" by Opeth, and "panopticon" by Isis. Now look at those by Iron and let me know...

It's not really relevant, but the VDGG presents are nice, though..

At the risk of being boring, an album with a cover like that can't even be approached, and it has little to do with financial availability... it's simply banal, given the subject, and it would look awful even if it were done well. I've tried to listen to a few songs from these bands, but they seem even more derivative than Zucchero! To those who say that the Iron Maiden covers are beautiful... What are you taking? Tell me, I want two! I'm a bit of a cover fetishist; for me, it counts a lot in the overall value of an album, because it must immediately evoke the content of the work. This is why I say that this cover is perfect for an album like this.
