It’s just that I have nothing left to say, but I’ll say it anyway...

Since I’m not very knowledgeable about the genre, I’ll vote for Angra.

I frame my "critique" with an example: two fundamental post-rock groups, Tortoise and Slint, have radically different approaches. The former are cold and meticulous, their atmospheres derived from a reasoned study of melody and rhythm. The latter, on the other hand, create revolutionary music, with similar foundations, doing it in a natural and spontaneous way. Now, both are amazing bands, and one might prefer one group or the other, or equally love them both. Gordian Knot is great, but in my opinion certain melodies and certain frictions between different musical approaches, combined with a slightly depressive vein (for that kind of music, you know) didn’t quite grab me on a visceral level, and not just because they fall into the first category. A somewhat silly example, but it's pretty much what I meant to say ;-)

Yes, I found it really dull, and it has one of the worst covers I've ever seen. It looks like the soundtrack of a Winx movie.

It’s beautiful, they’re a mess.

this record really sucked, but they were entertaining and hearing them on the radio at the beach was a breath of fresh air. I see many complaining about Sanremo, I personally really like Chiambretti's hosting, but musically it’s the worst ever... I hope the Finlei or Bertè in a plastic raincoat win.

Beautiful album, perhaps the least "stoppy" of the post-Dark Side phase. But the most beautiful Pink Floyd albums are the first two..

No Emanuele, I really don't like these. If we really want to talk about "future" in progressive (be it metal or rock), I find the shift towards melody, catchiness, and the visceral nature of hard rock as done by Mars Volta much more interesting... On the other hand, Emergent by Gordian Knot isn't bad, although it seemed a bit cold and really not very spontaneous. Nice review, cheers.

Melissa, try "amnesiac" instead, you won't regret it ;-)
