A film so fiercely 'a-Catholic' (where the sacredness of iconography and raped nuns remain almost empty figures against the backdrop of an amoral humanity adrift) and yet 'Christian' in its obsessive search for light, the need for atonement from guilt and sins that drag you into a black hole of sordid violence and depravity that only the best Ferrara could conceive. Keitel is majestic and murky. The bad lieutenant is 'the other' of us, the endless shadow on the wall...

The battery of 'Arnie' seems almost to disintegrate - I mean, it's a cataclysm; goodness!! The most unusual album by Mr. Claypool, with a square and linear production like a concrete block... for me, it's AWESOME (and I didn't get it back then, damn!). And you Bleak give it a measly two stars? Well, I'm putting 'Golden boy' and 'The chastising of Renegade' on replay in the meantime...
