Clint Eastwood Lettere Da Iwo Jima

I saw Flags, what can I say, quote from the ending: "..perhaps heroes don’t exist... heroes are something we create, something we need.." And what happens to the heroes from the interviews of the son who wants to know more about his father's story? A simple guardian, a suffering bearer of truths, and a Native American sent back to war but returned humbly. I find the reference to the events surrounding this last character and to all the Native Americans, the first inhabitants of the lands across the ocean, truly fantastic and more than necessary: a real stroke of genius on Clint Eastwood's part! However, honestly, I consider the other film slightly superior for the emotion and thoughts it evokes.

Only today did I see it, truly beautiful in its simplicity of characters but especially in the direction. Let's say that the Japanese come off less shady in this film (they attempt to care for the wounded US soldier) compared to the Americans who killed without mercy (the protagonist’s friend and the other soldier were coldly executed). They even inflicted violence upon themselves with the explosive form of harakiri °_° Anyway, I'll express my thoughts on "Flags" as soon as possible...

Forgive me, but I still struggle to understand what could be enjoyable about watching this film. After all, every taste is personal, peace and respect for all comments. It's nice that we always try to maintain a calm tone and respect for others' tastes, goodbye :-)

To me, the comparison with Mina seems FORCED, but it’s always a matter of taste. P.S. But does she happen to have the same beautician as BerluKaz? To reach that age without wrinkles °_°

One of my absolute favorite movies.

I find myself agreeing with sharkstez regarding the excessive number of chases and that UNDENIABLE reference to "Matrix." In fact, I dare to say, perhaps overreaching, that some passages, if better streamlined and managed by Nolan, could have impacted even more than those back in the day. Maybe avoiding the excessive use of parentheses, ellipses, quotation marks, and phrases like mah-boh-chissenefrega would have further enhanced my appreciation of the review :-) As for the film, the discussion is rather complex. Great cast, enviable special effects, a director who is perhaps at the peak of his fame, a mountain of dollars invested. However, upon rereading comment 6 by ASSAFETIDALOVER, I find several points in common with my opinion, while still considering terms like "ridiculous" and "pretentious" to be a bit too strong, though I accept the "plethoric" description as a base. In short, I personally expected to see something different; this doesn’t mean that I wasn’t engaged until the end in trying to understand, which is, however, not exactly simple given a crucial point: how far could one go with dreaming? Wasn’t the third one mentioned? And then, is it correct to revolve a film like this around a single true protagonist? This formula felt more suited to the aforementioned "Memento," don’t you agree? PS: Shall we play at giving a personal interpretation of the ending? It seems clear to me that Leo ended up in limbo by his own choice.

@DRUNKQUEEN: It seems absolutely shocking to me to write such things; wasn't a sufficient re-reading of what was proposed to the readers enough? Honestly, I would rate the writing of the review a 5.5. Then the "summary-plot" factor really brings it down. Just my personal opinion.

@HARDROCK: personal and respectable viewpoints; out of curiosity, which do you think is the best? ;-)

@ILFREDDO: Honestly, I struggle to see personal insights, aside from the first part which had given me hope.

I repeat and will always repeat: it's okay to commit to writing something readable about the plot, but is it really worth laying it all out for the reader? Epic film.
