this work has put me in a tough spot. I wanted to talk about it too, but I avoid expressing unpopular opinions. here we are in full coltraneian experimentation. exotic and distant instrumentation is being used (a kind of pre-fusion). too much avant-garde, too much mysticism, too "wild." in any case, a review overflowing with respect and deserved admiration for a musician I absolutely adore. I can't give it 5 stars, because, forgive me, I've experienced (not for ease of listening, mind you, but for perceptivity in time/space) more from other works.

Good job. Great choice to review it. If I don't watch it tonight, I'll watch it tomorrow. I would add that Paul Giamatti is a great actor, somewhat of a victim of the "supporting roles" he plays, who has never broken through on a global level, but is always on the brink of worldwide fame just waiting for the right film.

I'll listen as soon as I get back to Vienna. Right now I'm staying at my parents’ house and my dad's computer is garbage.

I like your analogy. Good idea with the suggestions. And who would ever want to change your mind?

@ odradek: I knew about the existence of GRASS's review and I wrote to him before doing mine. I believe my point of view is different; you can decide if it’s more or less shared. GRASS's review is excellent, I told him that, but mine comes from a different perception and journey. I agree that it’s better to propose things that are not already present, but I would also like to respond to other existing reviews in the future (probably I'll do it on Corea) even if there are already some, because I want to emphasize different opinions. If you look at my review of Bright Size Life by Metheny and the one that already exists, they are hyper-different. Jazz is a philosophy and deserves various interpretations. GRASS's is very symbolic; mine is a bit schematic. And so?

Dear grasshopper, your review is delightful, but I have a slightly different interpretation to propose, with the utmost respect, of course. It reminds me a lot of the cool jazz at Davis. I jotted down a couple of lines about the album. Maybe I'll send them. We’ll see.

Wow muffin! Thank you! I mean, I can be challenged, indeed, very much so. When it comes to Pat Metheny (who, by the way, is my favorite), I haven't always been flawless... But with Bud Powell (this is the second review I’m doing on him), you can bet the farm on it.

I’m not exaggerating. Bud Powell is a hero for many, many musicians, many critics, many listeners. Trust me (but then again, maybe not). Without this album, a significant piece would be missing. Without this man as well.
