I don't know, I started off biased and the expositional formula didn't convince me. I'll read it again, maybe tomorrow, to give a more reasoned opinion, but instinctively... The album is certainly fundamental. However, I wouldn't place it at the top of the examples to describe Davis's verve or Coltrane's eclecticism. Great "prima donnas" together, great Evans too, but the sound of Kind of Blue is just too atmospheric. I'm into other forms of jazz and this album has some limitations for me. For example, it's too popular (super well-known, soft, almost trendy for the connoisseur) and indeed not too demanding to "read." Or the atmospheres are valuable, but a bit too ethereal, and the pursuit of the melancholic drags on in a search for introspection that doesn't accurately pinpoint artistic intimacies (too many roosters crowing). Moreover, content-wise, it doesn't satisfy me. There's material, but it feels like just a single small caress with a relatively brief impact. In short, I’ve never placed it among my favorites. Please don't take it the wrong way.

IN THE MEANTIME, thank you for telling me privately. Very delicate of you. But you have to tell me how you did it... ah! mum's the word!

An album of astounding intellectual purity. "little one" is heartbreaking. "Agitation" is the track where Williams truly "exposes" himself and it is indeed prophetic. The rest is, at its core, of shorter/davisian nature. A quintet that comes together in unison, motivated by the energy of the wise master who colors the settings designed by shorter, and as you say, excellently integrated by the talent of the individuals (with hencock shining in the closing piece). A wise and balanced album. Great idea to review it.

new fierce clever emphasis of the ever-watchful nofake that does not forgive. and that after writing to me, a few days ago, to check the mail, will be forced to read in my dismay the obvious reality of an epistolary void never filled.

ghemison, know that there's good jaco on bass in "bright size life"... after a long thought, I feel like recommending to you, also by Pat, Trio 99/00. essential, with jazz standards by coltrane and shorter. if you want something veery jazz alternative, go for "offramp". for the rest, I doubt that the fusion period could attract you. bye

The film has something really good. The review is almost too exhaustive.
