Pat Metheny With Lyle Mays & Nanà Vasconcelos As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls
Voto:
Dear jazzprog, I’m sorry that your review doesn’t specify the release year (28 years ago... not very clear), I’m sorry that it doesn’t mention that Nana is a percussionist, in addition to being an occasional backing vocalist, and that he is the one contributing to the value of Metheny's fusion. I’m sorry for that "ne" and that "affianco," and for a few other small typos. However, I always enjoy reading about the placebo effect of Pat's music on his listeners. On this, I am in agreement with you. One of the most effective "medicines" in this respect is, trust me, the work with Jim Hall.

Certainly to be discovered. The best part, because it's an "essential manual," just to please.

Woody Allen Sogni e delitti

Your opinion is highly respectable. I find the film decent; it doesn’t belong to one of its higher moments, but it’s far from the questionable performances of "holliwood ending." In any case, even without shining, Allen surprises me with his undeniable freshness. It’s unimaginable that behind the camera there is a seventy-year-old. The style is indeed new compared to what was seen before Match Point. I like to think of him embracing (riding) his thriller period and always using new faces. The freshness comes precisely from his actors. I greatly appreciate his alternating ā€œmurky and pure.ā€ I find it clean, expressive, and seeking out weaknesses. His is a clear and transparent attempt to talk about an age-old evil, and I see him updating himself in doing so. Not being faithful to himself is a virtue. In this sense, I don’t see him at all as one who is fishing from a metaphorical cauldron of profits. Call it a transition if you like. I found the dialogues dry, essential, decisive, and the transitions lean, raw (perhaps even too much; one needs to imagine a lot of what isn’t seen). I also like to think about the strong symbolic value of the boat. In short, I wasn’t disappointed at all. As for the flattening, I believe that Allen produces works of generally good value. The mercenary was not directed at you. I repeat, I respect what you say and how you say it. I’m still, rather, reflecting on what led you to certain opinions, also considering films from the past. Bye.

I see, now I’ll add. First of all, the translation of the title is terrible: Cassandra's Dream was perfect for focusing on a theme of the film. That boat is a metaphor for many things. I do not agree with you about the lack of dramatic progression. I don’t see it as a dramatic film but rather as a thriller. The dramatic element, in my opinion, belongs to genres like "Anna and Her Sisters" or "Interiors" or "Alice." Continuing, it’s just my opinion that Farrell was excellent and effective. He met the demands of the role. In fact, he kept me in suspense for an hour. Rather than philosophizing, I saw a WELL-REALIZED lack of spirituality from the characters, who are too materialistic. It is no coincidence that the mother is the only figure who hints at the value of family, the only real one, and it remains for the viewer to see how this apparent spiritual bond also disintegrates in the face of individual interests. I’ll conclude. I am a fan and have seen everything by Allen except Interiors (I will watch it soon) and have read two of his biographies, and the film did NOT disappoint me at all. I found some vague and generic elements, but not significant enough to undermine its value. A film that I consider decent, at the same time not suitable for mercenary judgments about Allen. Your review remains valid, but from now on, no longer shared.

Congratulations. A surprising and clear analysis, considering the magnitude of the movie. Moccia should be appreciated for his use of female physicality, and it is really the only reason I assume justifies the star rating. You deserve a solid 5, both for the likability and the final implication. Let's hope the film doesn't recruit too many followers and/or cause harm...
