Darren Aronofsky Requiem For A Dream
Voto:
Really excellent review. Congratulations. 110 and praise for the conclusion. A lesson in style, if anything. I would be quite subjective, I believe, when talking about the director in question. I can only say that I don't like practically anything he has done in his life. So far this was the worst, but The Wrestler still beats it hands down. The most fake, most contrived, most terrible film I have ever seen.

When has Rourke ever been an actor? And then, it's clear that production and distribution companies must have invested the vast majority of the budget to pay international critics. A horrible film, truly irritating. Imitations of '70s cinematography, an expressionless lead, poorly intertwined stories, almost useless characters/extras. Well, in America, after the super mega productions, they now get emotional over a shoulder-shot film. They have a long way to go. In fact, they really need to find the right path. Terrible work.

A review that doesn't say anything new and that I refuse to rate not out of spite, simply because, given the 3 stars, it feels like a provocation. Magnificent album.

It is the most beautiful thing Italy has produced in the last century. Aside from the comic book wonders in the strict sense, Pazienza manages to bring everything together. Sometimes it feels like you’re in a movie, sometimes in a song, sometimes in a novel, sometimes in poetry, sometimes in front of one of those paintings that keep you enchanted for hours. An absolute marvel. The genius, indeed Genius, in person. The publication is also excellent. Whether you like it or not, Mollica has done one good thing.

Precise and interesting. Moreover, a good way to listen to something from a genre I know little about.

I don't know... if a record like this (in Italy) isn't well-made...

Back. I vote for the film but not the review. It would be a 3.5 but having to choose, I round down.
Ron Howard Frost/Nixon

I really liked the review. In particular, the last sentence. Hehehe. Concise and well-written, it captures the film just like a good preview of a movie should. In the end, the film feels very much like an American flick, largely due to Nixon's delirious phone call to Frost before the fourth interview. It's too American for the sense of challenge that would fit everything. In this sense: there's that kind of modular challenge, applicable to so many films made in the USA, from thrillers to historical films to romantic ones. But it doesn't fall into the obvious, the grotesque, or the déjà vu. Precisely because it talks (with masterfully hyper-realistic costuming) about a true story. The grids in which the characters are placed are too static. Nixon is just the piece of shit super-businessman from American cinema, Frost is the presumed straight/good-looking guy from American cinema. What earns the film a passing grade is the performance of the two leads. Sheen deserves a 7 (on a scale of 10). A bit predictable but perfect in his portrayal of the role. Maybe a bit too plastic and unnatural in the way he smiles. Langella deserves a 10, period. A fun fact: Langella chose Italian shoes to wear at the Oscars, but strictly laced. Those who have seen the film will understand.
