Jethro Tull A Passion Play
Voto:
Let it be clear, Jethro Tull are among my absolute favorites, along with Yes, Genesis, Le Orme, Queen, The Beatles, and Antonius Rex. So: for me, the real Jethro Tull are the ones with Barlow on drums, Barre on guitars, Hammond-Hammond on guitar, Evans and Palmer (sometimes) on keyboards, and of course Anderson on everything else. But why do I say this? Because it's with this lineup that Jethro Tull were born as we know them today, and it's with that lineup that the true Tull sound emerged; it's with that formation that Anderson and his bandmates' true ambitions came to light. For heaven's sake, those albums up to Aqualung are beautiful (for me, they're a solid 5), but they were still raw, their typical sound had yet to blossom; they were still too attached to the blues. In short, if you understand... For me, that's how it is.

Well, in my opinion, we're just talking about big bands, and each had its golden age, some longer, some shorter, and that's it. I don't think there's a best among these father groups of progressive. For example, last month I was convinced that Genesis were the best in the prog scene. Now, for the past week, I've been drooling over Le Orme, and I think they're the best. It's a discussion that changes every time.

Ahh giant wheel...

In my opinion, this is better than Thick as a Brick: the latter suffers towards the end from a few tedious and repetitive sections that are stretched out for too long, while "A Passion Play" is much leaner. Let me explain: it is indeed more complex and articulated, but it is also more fluid and smooth, never dwelling too much on the same piece. It's a continuous succession of interweaving that avoids the annoying interruptions that Thick as a Brick can generate; in fact, great pieces are thrown away within a few seconds. Only Jethro Tull could afford that.

Great movie. And when it turns out that Sonny is gay? Come on, let's reveal everything, everyone already knows the ending anyway...

In fact, in its mediocrity, it says something sacred. There are no words on the album.

Absolute masterpiece by Jethro Tull: for me one of the most important and imposing works of progressive (because this is indeed progressive), from one of the most talented bands ever (originality, technique at the service of imagination, creativity, granite balls,...). And then Ian Anderson's voice on this album, oh my...

Great review. For me too, Lizard is one of the best by King Crimson. Not to mention "Islands"...

Well, I don't mind the cover.

Not appreciating a Hammond means not appreciating music. The Davoli, I read a little while ago, has 2 oscillators. My Jen SX 1000, in its humility, brings out certain sounds...
