Don't be a pain in the ass, in life stinks there's the synthesizer, whether you like it or not.

Sanjuro's argument doesn't hold up. Barrett was pushed out: what were the others supposed to do? Find another job? Commit suicide? No, they hired another guitarist, and damn, they were young and eager to make music. The rest came naturally: it's true that the last albums of the seventies were a bit more accessible to the masses, but listen to a tune by the Slade to see what commercial music was like. The Dark Side of the Moon is simply more accessible, but not commercial. Barrett's story went that way; there’s no need to say "but what about this," and above all, I would leave out bands like Bad Brains and Butthole Surfers, which don't even compare based on their names alone.

Sadness or no sadness, we've seen how much Pere Ubu and Television have influenced future generations. Thanks to them, today we listen to The Calling, Oasis, Le Vibrazioni,... And don't come to me saying that thanks to them we now listen to "advgfrhaeiro" or "<sdfsetr," because they are just niche realities. Music is dying just like rock 'n roll, and it's certainly not the fault of Queen, Genesis, or Pink Floyd: the blame lies with all those modern little bands, all those garage bands that grew up with punk and new wave; and today, what are they? Nothing, there’s nothing left that can compete with the old musical realities. There's rap that is atrophying musical minds, there's nu-metal that isn't worth a dime,... All coming from America. Over there, they make music like they package peanuts.

Bad Brains, Butthole Surfers, who are they, other bands invented by Scaruffi? How come I’ve never heard of them among the greats of music? I like The Trip too, but I certainly won’t start shitting on Pink Floyd in favor of these The Trip.

Yes, I listened to them: they are unbearable. Of course, the albums I own (The Modern Dance, New Picnic Time, if I'm not mistaken are considered the best) I didn't buy, I downloaded them: I couldn't take such a big risk (which turned out to be justified). It's useless; Americans have not produced musical geniuses since 1970 (like The Doors, Grateful Dead,...), and especially since 1970 they have not been able to hold a candle to European artists (including Italian prog). I'm sorry, but the POP music (meaning music that doesn't fall within the realm of classical music) that has marked the history of music has been composed 95% by European artists; the rest by others. This is not a throwaway comment meant to provoke, but a judgment formed after years and years of listening and research. From this reasoning, I already deduced that Pere Ubu wouldn't appeal to me. After an intensive week-long listening session, I completely abandoned them. This is not the case with Jazz (which is certainly a more frivolous album, but absolutely more musical than Pere Ubu). The same goes for the poor Television (who boasted a singer who couldn't even do his job). These two bands wanted to sing their political ideals: I'm sorry, but there is no room for politics in music.
