I know I'm touching the idol, but you can't assert Wyatt's superiority over early Genesis. He was less complete; to you, he seems like the GENIUS of music in general, but try to look at him through the eyes of everyone else: there are even those who have never stood him (that's not my case, but my uncle's, for example). Okay, musically he's a genius too, but does he have a truly personal style? His very diverse works make me say he's a great researcher and composer (much more than the much-lauded Gabriel). The uniqueness of the early Genesis lies precisely in that distinctive style, recognizable from the very first seconds, and in the fluidity of their music. The last thing "and I don't believe that Genesis were more original than Wyatt, quite the opposite..." can you repeat? We're talking about Genesis with Gabriel. Their progressive sound, personally, is the most original music I've ever heard (you can recognize them right away, a bit like Queen). The fact that you don't like them is another matter, but the history of rock tells us that Genesis were not at the peak of that movement called progressive.
