NoFX Punk In Drublic

Frankly, I don't agree. Even the second half of the album has great tracks (Lori Meyers!!!!, Jeff wears Birkenstocks, Happy Guy); the style compared to White Trash is definitely different—both in terms of composition, with songs that are technically simpler and more immediate, and in sound production; and you can't dismiss The Brews with those four words, clearly you haven't fully grasped the meaning of that song. Also, I completely disagree with the statement that "the complete absence of choruses in many songs is definitely a weak point of the compositions": the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-ch orus structure is just too easy, and this is exactly where NOFX stand out from the mass of melodic hardcore bands that infested record stores in the '90s. No, this isn't right, 5 to MxPx and 3 to Punk in Drublic...MAH!

One thing I just can't understand is why, if someone doesn't like 99 Posse, the reason is always sought in their political content? I've said it, and I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this way: the real problem is that I simply don't like their music, which is just annoying/irritating/insipid, much like the forced use of dialect in their songs. That's all.

The real problem with the 99 for me isn't their politicization; it's the musical proposal itself. Personally, one of the most unbearable bands ever, musically speaking (and let's not even talk about the image of the vocalists, brrrr).

Keep in mind that even the Sea... has similar themes (indeed, from what I know of his work, most of his pieces are of that nature)

Nakagami... no, trust me, Tarantino has nothing to do with this writer. I read his The Sea of Dead Trees, now hard to find in bookstores, which seems to be his masterpiece: ZZZ. It's an eternal brick of a book, it has its charm but personally I hated it (add to that it's the central piece of a trilogy whose other two novels have never been translated into Italian...) (regarding the review, I really don't like the first sentence. And be careful when you talk about "style" in translated works: you can never know, unless you consult the original, whether what you're reading is the author's style or the translator's - Yoshimoto docet)

@ gasta: I really like the artwork, you should see it in person. By the way, inexplicably, here the little monkey and the little alien are in reverse positions compared to the cover I have in front of me right now, what's up with that!?

It's their best album, in my opinion; those who think "extreme music is all the same" should give it a listen. Among my favorites, I would also add Heptarchy, where intertextuality reigns supreme in the lyrics (:D these guys are great even in writing the lyrics).

Oh, after three, between EPs and albums, their records listened to (this one I'm missing), I still haven't figured out if they convince me.
