welcome! I too always hope for an "emergence of southern talents," but the last time I was convinced of it was with Totti and Tata :D As for Amalia Grè, I just saw her the day before yesterday on television on Rai 3, and she seemed like a pale shadow of Mina's style, oh well... I hope to be proven wrong, even though she doesn't exactly seem like a young girl. The cover, on the other hand, is spot on; even in the flesh and blood, she looks like a comic book!

The album is called Versus and it has been reviewed, except that this review has remained disconnected from the others because the group doesn't have THE in front of their name in the database :( see: Pagina non trovata

Exactly, marcmat! I was just thinking about with everything to lose/have you ever had it and how much I liked the style council blue while I was listening to it...

It's crazy how they manage to create songs that always seem similar by skillfully mixing the same few ingredients, perhaps this time almost imperceptibly shifting their musical coordinates, and consistently producing jewels of disarming beauty... among all, the hints of bossa nova in the Style Council's Know How, complete with a female chorus: could it be the stunning one? :D

Beautiful the review and the album, I felt the connections to John Lennon too, if only for the ability to write songs that you don't hear often. And BDB, whatever sound attire you pair with his melodies, whether it’s the lo-fi of Bewilderbeast or the intrusive production of the later works, always knows how to hit home: this time it’s Another Devil Dies that just won’t leave my head...

Great review, for me it might be their best album too. I don't know if it was the surprise effect of hearing sounds like this in Italy, the intoxication of the posse, the suddd suddd 'nziste 'cca resist'...

What a beautiful review this is too! And I can also vent about Ben Harper, with all due respect to vanilla :D to me, his concert really felt like a karaoke, he even turned excuse me mr., which I used to like, into the usual reggae. By the way, before The Cure, with healthy malice, the direction played a song from some Motown group that was exactly like steal my kisses... well, even my beloved Cure have a new song that starts identical to in your house from seventeen seconds... next time though, I'll schedule the de-meeting earlier, so we can catch up! BTW, there was Bloomer too with Pugliamix!

great vani! too bad we didn't run into each other... but now I don’t have the courage to share my thoughts on ben harper ;) Julian Nelson, on the other hand, is a legend: long live the chubby ones, including Frank Black and Robert Smith! And also Kim Deal...

Released today and bought today, and I would say that after the live listening in Imola and Milan and a day of repetition, it was worth it, even more than Bloodflowers... the songs are there, Gallup's bass is more present than ever, and the single paradoxically seems less and less cheesy with every listen. Surely this time the promotional effort is significant, and even getting a video made by Floria Sigismondi of Marilyn Manson fame is a statement of intent. However, I wouldn't overthink the commercial vs. alternative dialectic; The Cure are a fantastic pop band, and Fat Bob has stated time and again that he has always wanted to compose "the perfect pop single," even when he was referring to Charlotte Sometimes...
