Deftones Koi No Yokan
Voto:
Great album and excellent review. At first, I didn't quite grasp the meaning of this album... it's the usual Deftones, but after a few listens, it got under my skin and I appreciated its genuineness. Leather and Gauze are two beautiful tracks from this album! .. really captivating.
The Mars Volta Noctourniquet
Voto:
Yes, yes, yes, everything you say, dear reviewer... but the disc in question can be exhausted in a couple of weeks. Without a doubt, the originality of Mars Volta is undeniable; at first listen, I was pleasantly surprised by the change in musical direction, but then over time (really short time, to be honest) almost all the tracks on the album started to bore me. The first three opening songs have a really good drive ("Dyslexicon" is really strong!), but the rest is quite empty in terms of content; as always: Mars Volta is one of the most original bands around, but when it comes to artistic substance, they always seem like a missed opportunity.
Coldplay Mylo Xyloto

"Parachutes" is the only album that has truly said something to me about this band, which I appreciate in some way nonetheless. I find this latest work perhaps more substantial than the previous one... it’s true that after several listens, I’m left with practically nothing; the album quietly fades away... but maybe this is exactly what they want now: to give you 50 minutes of serenity and nothing more.
Steven Wilson Grace For Drowning

This man is indefatigable! His solo works are, as always, very conceptual and difficult to digest compared to the more direct Porcupine Tree.
Anathema A Natural Disaster
Voto:
I recently got into Anathema, listening to their latest album... very, very interesting! As for the one being reviewed here, I have to say that in my first 3 or 4 listens it didn't capture me... in fact, let's say it just doesn't flow down my ears, perhaps because the more dreamlike and 'optimistic' "We're Here because We're Here" caught all my attention.
PS: The review is way too long; the reader gets lost around the second paragraph, despite a good start.

Mastodon The Hunter
Voto:
Anthology-worthy review; very nice! As for this little disc, I've only listened to it once and it sounds a bit different from the other Mastodon albums, perhaps lacking the shine of their previous works, but it's definitely a nice change in direction. For now, my rating is 3/5... maybe I'll reassess it later. "Crack the Skye," on the other hand, is an album that I've literally worn out and that I initially didn't judge to be great, just like this one...
Mogwai Earth Division EP
Voto:
Exciting and timeless album… just like every work by Mogwai, after all. Very refined, experimental, but perhaps too short and uneven to reach the highest scores. "Hound of Winter" is a wonderful track in my opinion.
Thrice Major/Minor
Voto:
Great little record... Thrice are among my favorite bands. This album is very tight, well-recorded, and strong without being violent like their early albums. For me, it’s much better than "Beggars," where I believe they lost some personality in favor of melodies too reminiscent of "Radiohead" at times. The album isn't very experimental; rather, it focuses on certain sounds and doesn’t budge. Some melodies even give the impression of being "heard before" from some other album of theirs... what a pity, it could have been an excellent record, but that’s the Thrice's expressiveness urgency. I'm just afraid that boredom might set in after a dozen listens, I don’t know, we’ll see. For me, a 3.5.
Maybeshewill I Was Here For A Moment, Then I Was Gone
Voto:
Energetic album like its predecessor (perhaps a bit more "British" due to the extensive use of piano) but excessively monochord and monochromatic... it doesn't excite, I expected something more; for me, it’s worth 2.5 - 3 / 5.
Yes, if these are the premises, the post-rock pursued by these "extremist" groups is an agonizing genre. I prefer Mogwai, who challenge themselves every time with sophisticated, refined, and never trivial works.
I'm sorry for the rating, but you could have been a bit more detailed in your description of the album.
