I agree with you about the gym. Let's say that 70% of the people who swim or are around it also hit the gym. And I see with my own eyes really incredible things, no less than narcissism. However, I also see that there are some, the minority of that 70%, let's say about 10%, who try to eat healthily, avoid vices like smoking and alcohol, and in my opinion, that's a positive thing. It's at least a positive trend (from my point of view, of course), which didn't exist even just 7-8 years ago.

What do I have that sets me apart? Let's see, health, two amazing shoulders, and sculpted abs. Jokes aside, I started swimming not to get laid more, since I was 10 years old and had a fragile constitution (back then). However, having a swimmer's physique does help a lot when it comes to hooking up; sometimes it can be almost annoying. You get brushed against by 17-year-old aspiring champions (and they really aspire) and by instructors in their 30s/40s. But you know, people from the outside judge the sport in general (I can only speak for swimming) as a way to achieve that, to get this, to sleep with that one, etc. For me, it’s much more than that.
