again? :D but it doesn't say that jazz improvisation is self-serving; it states that raga improvisation is never self-serving, which doesn't mean that jazz improvisation is always self-serving either, even if sometimes it can be, and it has been. I admit that, as the review has already pointed out, for us Westerners the concept of raga is difficult to assimilate, just think that improvising in raga takes several years of sadhana, which is a spiritual retreat in every way.
