I'm really sorry I couldn't go see them, especially since Diamond Eyes is a beautiful album, the best since White Pony. I browsed a bit online through their recent performances and found them to be in great shape, unlike four years ago, at Gods 2006, when they were lackluster and inaccurate, leaving a bad taste in my mouth, even though they've always been one of my favorite bands in their genre. I hope they come back next year for an extended tour.

"This is more than a review; it's a tribute to surf music": so 4.

A bold debut from one of the most unconventional and intriguing groups in the metal scene. You can already feel the elaborate and evocative style of Opeth, even if the typical naiveté of a first work is present: the icy atmospheres, the saturated and sharp guitars, Åkerfeldt's growling voice that often indulges in black metal-style screams, the iconography: all elements that still betray an excessive attachment to the context of Scandinavian extreme metal, in which, in the years to come, Opeth will excel magnificently. Still interesting and noteworthy. A good first outing, 3.5 which I gladly round up. As for the review, I’m sorry but I couldn’t even read it all: too heavy and scattered, plus in some parts it really seems to have been written poorly. This time I won’t rate you, hoping you can do better next time.

I finally managed to listen to it properly, and I feel compelled to return to this page and comment. A few years ago, while discussing Saturday Night Wrist, I said that Deftones were done for. I was wrong. I'm truly sorry for poor Chi; seeing him play four years ago and knowing he's in that state now is really sad. However, as unfortunate as it is to say, it's true that in the artistic field, tragedies can evoke powerful responses. His bandmates have stepped up, and while Diamond Eyes doesn’t add anything new to their history, it is a beautiful album. Definitely better than Saturday Night Wrist and even the self-titled one. It's been a while since I’ve heard them so inspired. I wonder if Eros was that good... Let’s hope to hear it one day. And of course, I hope to see Chi in good health again.

Better her than a lot of crap. If I hear one of her songs on the radio, I don’t change the station. And also, she's a real hottie.

I was there too. The acoustics were a bit messed up, but there are no words. A really great show, although slightly inferior to the concert in Milan on December 2nd. I still don't fully agree with their choice to limit the inclusion of tracks from the self-titled album to just Again, which I think deserves more attention. Still, always great.

I had also written it in parentheses in my previous post: "un'altro centro". The apostrophe doesn't belong there. Anyway, it all seems a bit rushed to me, with a fairly discursive approach; the use of punctuation seems a bit off too. Well, I wanted to be picky. As for the music, the Rem and the Radiohead are on another level; I wouldn't place them among this wave of melodic Brit bands. My comparison with the Italians mentioned above was to illustrate that, despite the necessary distances, these groups follow similar paths: they are respected musicians, they have talent and good ideas, which however they often willingly sacrifice in favor of a sugary easy listening made up of pompous and cloying arrangements, pretentious vocals that become irritating over time, and tear-jerking choruses that are more pathetic than moving. More smoke than roast, in short; and it's a shame because it's undeniable that these musicians have the qualities.

I've never really liked these groups; they're too pompous and sentimental. By these groups, I mean Coldplay, obviously, Travis, and lately I would also place Muse among them. Despite a more than decent past (the first two albums, and much of Absolution is also good), they are really testing anyone's patience with their new direction towards kitsch-baroque-electronic-pain-in-t he-ass. It's somewhat akin to what's happening in our peninsula, albeit with the necessary stylistic differences, with groups like Vibrazioni, Velvet, and Negramaro. Keane and the other bands I've mentioned definitely have potential, and scattered among syrupy arrangements and overly dramatic vocals, there are some interesting ideas. However, these are never or very rarely fully developed. It's a shame; at most, a nice song comes out of it (I liked "Crystal Ball" by Keane). Not much, I would say. I didn't like the review much, no offense. The reviewer has done better, even grammatically ("un'altro centro"???).

I don't know this band well; I'm pretty ignorant about their studio work. I saw them two years ago at a metal festival and I was quite bored; I don't think they're for me. Good review.

For The Edge, a solo can also consist of a repetition of chords, thus expanding the choice. In this case, I also like the "solo" in Out Of Control.
