Slipknot All Hope Is Gone

And the Dream Theater, on the other hand, are great, right Starblazer? Extro91: describe Slipknot as if they were Tokio Hotel! We’re still talking about a group that plays, like it or not, extreme metal. The trends that, as you say, they seem to follow are nonetheless subgenres of extreme metal; they are not sellouts just because they have introduced some metalcore elements into their music. For random examples, sellouts are Linea 77, who have tarnished their respectability by duetting with that pop star Tiziano Ferro, or Pino Scotto, who blathers on about musical values and then features J.Ax and le Vibrazioni on his album! And yes, Slipknot have also been important in their own way; they stood out in the nu-metal scene because they were the most aggressive and brutal of the bunch, and they have also shown that the concept of "nu-metal" can have numerous interpretations, having merged typical industrial modernisms of the genre with misanthropic violence and the frenzied outbursts of death metal. You are totally free to love them or hate them, but your judgment regarding their importance and value seems quite arbitrary to me. No offense.

I have always respected them, and I really liked their Vol.3. If now they have devoted themselves to metalcore, as more than a few have pointed out, then I too will abdicate from Slipknot, but I don’t understand all this animosity towards them that prevails on debaser. They might not be the be-all and end-all of metal, but I don’t see them at all like the vast majority of debaser users do. The Blister Exists is a formidable track. Anyway, I usually don’t find singles reviews convincing.

Twisted mental musings? I agree with you, and in my opinion, you've also taken something heavy to consider grunge to be Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, and Judas Priest! By your reasoning, even Mia Martini should have been considered grunge! And actually, grunge is a heterogeneous yet largely localized musical and artistic phenomenon that had a beginning and an end, and to claim that any album or song imbued with melancholy is grunge means to perpetuate one of the grossest clichés in music! And enough with these Dream Theater! ...And what the hell, are you their publicist?!

Thank you senmayan, I can't wait to listen to it. Unfortunately, I only know the cover of this album, which if I'm not mistaken, since I've only seen it once, is shaped like an envelope.

Great review. I haven't listened to the album yet, but I'm glad that Opeth have returned in style. It's true that for a while now they've been repeating themselves, and maybe this Watershed won't add much new to their career, but Opeth are always a pleasure to hear. They have shown the whole world (not just them, of course, but in this context, it's them we're talking about) that you can be refined even when playing extreme metal. "...Granitic death sfuggevolmente melodico": this definition is really beautiful; it perfectly conveys the idea: even in the peaks of aggression, Opeth's music reveals an intrinsic melodicism that is undoubtedly one of their strengths.

Stoney literally took the words right out of my mouth. Luppi's voice, while technically flawless, doesn't please me at all.

This is what Mark Arm said about grunge: "We were a heterogeneous group of outcasts, there was no pressure like: 'Hey, you're not the right kind of punk'." And if Mark Arm says so...
Deftones Saturday Night Wrist
Voto:
Boring and at times depressing album. Many described it as the comeback album, after the self-titled one. The self-titled one is definitely better, certainly not reaching the stratospheric heights of White Pony but not bad at all in my opinion. It was then that the Deftones completely laid their cards on the table, giving the world the last scraps of energy and brilliance, while this Saturday Night Wrist is heavy, sometimes even tedious, and lacking inspiration. In my opinion, they are at the end of their rope.

Great job, a beautiful review that hits the mark. Between this and Arise, it's a nice battle for the title of opus magnum, although it must be acknowledged, as you said, that Arise is more traditional and this one is more modern and innovative. So I guess that's why I consider Chaos A:D: the best of the entire discography.
Metallica Metallica

Say whatever you want, to me Iron Maiden suck. I don't find anything exciting in their music; to my poor brain, it's less expressive than a wall. It's still my limitation and I recognize it, since I'd rather listen to anything else. As for Metallica, however, I can't say these things. Keeping in mind that their production has sucked since Load, the first three albums are unbeatable, and Justice is no joke either. I still agree with Psycroptic, even though I admit I got caught up in the debate.
