Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

Ah, the tribute to Demetrio Stratos in Vicenza went to hell, last night I met the tomato espresso and he confirmed it to me. Maybe just postponed, maybe canceled, who knows. Sadness :(

So what does the emotional drummer do, cry while playing?

Well, Easy, you're clearly right; to some extent, we have to say that at a technical level, many metal drummers are truly impressive. But then it all stops there. Nothing else, nada. There are exceptional cases, but they’re rare. Hoglan is one of those halfway there, in the sense that he might seem emotional for the genre he plays, but he’s incomparable to the likes of Moon, Bozzio, and friends. At sixteen, he was also my favorite metal drummer, but then I discovered Dave Witte and I changed my mind. I've had 100 favorite drummers as I discovered new bands. Then the anonymous one is really naive. In short, if you tell me the Hoglan from "Individual Thought Patterns," then I’ll say that’s terrifying, not the one from Strapping, come on. I don't know Loop easy :( . Unfortunately, metal sounds scary in people's ears, almost as much as having Rocco Siffredi behind you.

Anonymous minghia, but then you wonder why metalheads are treated like crap when they talk about music, and why metal itself is judged as "ignorant" (watch the commas). You are the non-exception that confirms the non-rule.

Yeah, roughly that's how it is. But wasn't there a trend of saying that every rock lament was influenced by Sigur Ros? Or not?

You know it hits hard
the verse that I rap and your head flips
now you sing, let's see who strips
I do rap
only rap,
you laugh about it
you play with it but rap is not a game,
you know I flip hardcore
only hardcore for this
if you don't like it, it's a matter of mind and not just taste
so go
I don't give you what you want
zero rave, zero gabber on the hill,
only b-boy
no weird stories
too many things fucked up
too many people changing in two weeks
I stay deaf, blind, mute,
even if you beat me up, I stay here seated
and laugh
I have no reason to stand up, to confront myself
if you want, give me one but don’t try to stop me
because I’m trying to leave you
something that stays inside your head if you don’t erase it
I’m with the wolves because it’s dark times,
I drink beer but it doesn’t help to patch the holes
I don’t give anything for free, and when I fly I don’t flop, on the hill der formento no trip no trip-hop,
only hip hop, Christ Almighty I don’t understand
there's a mechanism but it's well hidden
if you pay me I flip but if you’re looking for stories like DJ Flash
I don’t do those even for cash.
DO I LOOK LIKE A METALHEAD TO YOU? DO I LOOK LIKE A TRASHY GUY? EH? EH?

I'll be frank (but also Salvatore). I'm surprised that you listen to the Burning Brides, but then I saw the bassist and I understood that you listen to them for the same reason I do. As for the metalhead, I'm all about vintage, which never ages and is always at its best. Back to the female bassists or ladies playing instruments, because of them I've found myself listening to Cat Power, Carla Bruni, A Toys Orchestra, Juliette & The Licks. Does that seem right to you?

As a friend of true metalheads, I say, "it's easy for you simpletons to trash Death and then listen to Coral." Half measures :D

However, in these cases, I side with the metalheads, who, despite supporting great bands (few praiseworthy ones, I must say, in recent years), which deserve recognition, are hit by stereotypes and the accusation that metal isn’t intelligent. I mean, because, well, I used to think that too, huh. Just don’t put heavy or power in front of metal, or else I’ll come after you, though.
