Survey: what voice would you like in Isis?

You have to listen to Breach if you like Isis. Next time I’ll smash you with Asva, happy? One thing, when Snail came out everyone was talking about grunge, now after 10 years they call it Proto-Stoner. Why?

You are absolutely right about the label thing. On Idrahead if you release something you’re post, on Ipecac you’re crazy, if you release on Relapse you’re doing innovative and extreme metal (when bands like Exhumed come out doing some really unique stuff and people like High On Fire), if you were on Sub Pop (let's not even go there), if you released on Mansruin you did stoner even though there were bands like Croatan and Fuckemons that did everything but stoner. On Southern Lord they release Black Metal but risk calling it “Bloom Metal.”

The Breach (now disbanded sigh) of Kollapse, in my opinion, really went deep with Isis in many ways, just as Isis goes deep with Mastodon in other aspects and vice versa. As you can see, it's not that easy to get the groups you believe in to go deep, is it?

The Isis are monsters, but let's not overestimate them.

Nice album, I took the opportunity because they've reissued quite a few Converge records. Dude, the best album related to metal from last year is Leviathan, says a repentant metalhead. You don't appreciate it because it has that metallic structure and cool technical-hardcore flair, while Converge and Isis are much more post and you like them as a good gay. You Fail Me is stunning, Panopticon is perfect, Leviathan is a whole different genre; you can't compare Isis and Mastodon, they have nothing to do with each other, come on. Do you know why Leviathan is better? Because in metal there are very few people making something new who don't take bottles to the face at concerts, think about it... think about it...

I also listened to grind and post-hardcore, but I'm not going to freak out about it now, okay? :D

Roky, I have nothing to say about the fact that true masterpieces have come out during that time (you know I know this) that I listen to a lot, but it seems you spit on almost everything that comes out now (including the stoner wave after Kyuss). Honestly, if your criteria for evaluation is just innovation, then let me tell you that sometimes you're the one who’s limited (with all due respect to your extensive knowledge of the genre, well before mine, just to be clear and emphasize). I can’t expect innovation, and they will certainly never be part of history, but honestly, Manchu, Unida, Slo Burn, Solarized, Dozer, Suplecs, 35007, Goatsnake, Dead Meadow (and "your" The Heads), Hermano, Nebula, Gorilla, El-Thule, Disengage, Sideburn, Colour Haze, and the mass of bands coming out now are really serious. This is Rock&Roll as I understand it right now. I mean, I remember you telling me "DON'T LISTEN TO NEW BANDS," "Dozer is trash," or something like that, what the hell, you can't say stuff like that :D. I reiterate, absolutely with the MAXIMUM RESPECT, I’m telling you this, don’t misunderstand. In fact, I’m going to put on Colosseum in my headphones now :D.
