@dark...who the hell thinks they're so cool...I just put those pleasant memories in the comment...I know that fantasy is a pretty limited genre...but as far as I'm concerned, I started reading on my own with that...then with that comment, I don't think I acted superior...the show-offs annoy me too, trust me...bye...

The quote about the ass that Trombetta made is from the Divine Comedy, right? This book marked the last part of my childhood... fourth grade, I believe... I remember all my classmates were reading books that were still quite childish... while I was out there with this and The Lord of the Rings... and all the fantasy stuff... the teachers looked at me really badly because I was straying from their lists of books to read during the summer... what a thing... and I didn't give a damn about anything and did my own thing... oh, how nice... XD

Then I agree with you... from a formal linguistic and lexical point of view, it is quite poor... but then again, Huxley is a failed scientist... it seems to me that he didn’t take that path because he was ill with blindness or something similar...

@carpanix...but I don't think Huxley was ever a true novelist...I mean...among all his books, the only real novel I believe he wrote is The Devils...his characteristic is precisely that of mixing stories (in a novel style) and essayistic parts at the same time...just look at Island and Brave New World...

I agree with defender, and I add that perhaps THE NEW WORLD is more relevant now than in its time...

My favorite writer... this book made me think for two whole weeks with nagging questions... unlike you, I believe it hardly feels the "age" at all...
